1. With my KISS Tribute Band 'Dressed To Kill' I've been lucky enough to share the stage and play alongside various KISS members (Bruce Kulick, Mark St John, Peter Criss & Eric Singer). I've also performed for KISS members Gene Simmons & Ace Frehley and manager Bill Aucoin. We have had some famous names attend & watch our shows as well..... including Rick Savage, Joe Elliott & Phil Collen (Def Leppard), the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Danger Danger, Terrorvision & Wolfsbane. With other bands I have been lucky enough to perform on the same bill with Jethro Tull, Paradise Lost, Saxon, Paul Young, Beverly Craven, Motorhead, Dio, Tigertailz. I have also performed for Jimmy Page.....& Rick Wright (Pink Floyd)

 3. Agreed, they pulled an auction of mine on Day 6 (of 7!) because I mentioned in my auction (honestly) that I also had the item advertised elsewhere. Seems they'd rather penalise honest eBayers than go after scammers and rip-off merchants
 4.
You can buy a non-Fender bridge cover that fits over a BadAssII bridge comfortably, they used to sell it on basspartsresource.com but it appears that they don't stock it anymore. Perhaps worth investigating? I'm not sure of the manufacturer but I know they're definitely for sale out there somewhere!
Thanks, will do.... If anyone else knows of the cover to which you are referring could they please let me know!
 5. I'm considering making a few cosmetic adjustments to my lovely Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass. Does anyone know whether the typical Jazz bass 'ashtray' bridge covers (with F logo) will fit over the Badass II bridge... or is the Badass II too wide/set back too far? Any help would be appreciated and would save me buying one only to find it doesn't fit!
 6.
ahhh.... Guitar Centre. They're excellent stores, not only is the kit as cheap as the proverbial chips but the staff are all really good and knowledgable,
Wow.... that's the opposite of what they say on www.talkbass.com....
 7.
But as far as basses go, I seem to have to go through the card! In the past year I've had CIJ Precision '51, Warwick Streamer 5, MM Sub, Epiphone Thunderbird and Archer Kasim Sulton signature.
Mick, what was the Archer bass like? From pics I've seen it looks pretty nice....
 8.
As I am only 5'7" tall,I have trouble finding a really comfy bass to play. Surely I ca'nt be the only player with this problem? Anyone else out there suffering from an in-built height restriction?
Check out my Jackson 'Kip Winger' bass on the 'For Sale' section. Small, lightweight and powerful..... 9.
Thought I'd take this opportunity to share my imported Jap 70's Fender P. This is a non -export model. How she arrived, looking very Phil Lynott And how she looks now, all John Deacon. Love her to bits!
Sorry Dood... I can't find this bass with this colour option on Ishibashi for the price you paid. Can you point me to the right link? Thanks!
 10. Great bass, great deal.... ESPECIALLY with the EMGs & BQC preamp! This HAS to sell.... it's a bargain!
 11. You could always quietly find a replacement for the 'weak link', then tell the 'weak link' that the band are splitting up. A couple of weeks later you can then 'reform' with the new member....
 12.
went to the bass cellar on Saturday to buy some strings for my lacky Jobo 5, after explaining at length that they need to fit a 35inch neck strung through body as they didnt stock lacky strings, got them home and gues what, they didnt even go up to the nut even when not strung through. :S £25 down the pan, they didnt give me a receipt either Serves me right for not going to the Gallery.......
Take them back, speak to the same person...... and give 'em hell.....
 13. Brilliant stuff.....!! Haven't seen this is a while but it's on my old Billy Sheehan tuition vid... Sure, he can be flash..... but he's an incredibly solid player (with a cool tone!). He is of course aided by playing alongside Pat Torpey, who is one of the most solid drummers I've ever seen.... and he looks like David Cassidy! lol!
 14.
I think if I had to make the choice, I'd rather listen to something new played badly than something I'm familiar with being murdered.
+1
 15.
Yes... the Bass Centre, in Wapping, circa 1986 *sigh* ahhhh those were the days, my friend...
I hear you..... wonderful times....
 16. You must be gutted!! Looking forward to hearing your review of this beasty (when it finally arrives!!!) Where did you get it from/how much?
 17. Take a look at the Genz Benz NeoPak head and Neo1x12 Cab. Superb...
 18. I'm 36 years old and have been playing bass for 24 years.... I'm generally a straightforward groove rock player, but I love Motown & early 70's rock melodic bass playing. My influences include everyone from Peter Cetera (early Chicago), Tiran Porter (Doobie Brothers) & Paul Goddard (Atlanta Rhythm Section)... to classics like Jamerson and McCartney.... to Guy Pratt and Bernard Edwards. All very useful for the covers & function bands! I'm mainly a pick player, but I use my digits for ballads, finger funk and Motown type stuff.... I can do basic slap, but I believe it's overused by too many people... I play 4-stringers exclusively. Tried a 5 for a while but couldn't justify having it for 5 extra notes (which I can get by tuning down or using an octaver). 6 strings and higher are for guitarists.... I love my Spectors... especially with the high mid boosted around 2K and plenty of solid low end (think Eddie Jackson of Queensryche). Been playing fretless (Wal & Pedulla) for the last 18 months and enjoying that too... Having been a player of 'active basses' for years I have recently acquired a passive Fender Geddy Lee Jazz which has fired up my GAS for another 70's Jazz (in white, with blocks & covers) and a P-Bass to put flats on... There's no end to my GAS.... only an end to wall space to hang them on
 19. Reminds me of a joke I heard.... Guitarist returns from 'Berklee' (insert your choice of music school) scholarship and joins a local band. He's shown a couple of melodies for one of the songs and immediately announces "That can't be right....! That note there isn't within the chord and note structure of the key we're playing in!" The bassist replies "Yeah, but it sounds good.... and that's what matters..." Guitarist: "But it breaks the rules...!" Bassist: "In that case, it's a jazz tune" Guitarist: "Jazz?!? Oh, OK, why didn't you say that in the first place...!"
 20. As an aside..... the 'KISS' tribute band I'm in auditioned for a new 'Ace Frehley' (lead guitarist) a while ago... We had many applicants but the most interesting one was a 'technically amazing' guy who could play all the right notes, but had NO feel. It turned out he'd never done the 'covers' thing before.... and therefore hadn't learnt to study the cover songs in the correct way. He thought he was great. We thought he was a robot.....
 21.
I do originals but I'm definitely not of the opinion that people who play in covers bands / back other artists are not proper musicians. Most of the time, I've found it's the other way around! In an originals band you can play whatever you like - and you can write the songs around your limitations as a musician. In a covers band you just won't have that luxury. The other trouble with many originals bands is that their sound is just a carbon copy of whoever the current big act is. So I don't see how that's got anything to do with expressing your artistic vision - surely, that's expressing someone else's!
Excellent point! I'm currently in two tribute bands and a function band.... and I dep for other function bands. Over the years I have done the 'originals' route to death including a moderately successful CD release in the GAS territories and Japan. (Btw, the GAS territories are Germany/Austria/Switzerland NOT Gear Acquisition Syndrome) Being in an originals band normally means writing your own bass part which, while artistically satisfying, does not make you any more of a 'musician'..... Being in a GOOD covers band/function band/Tribute band actually requires you to reproduce the basslines/style of the original players as authentically as possible. This is particularly true of a good 'Tribute' band.... For me, there's nothing worse than going to see a covers band who play poor, stripped down versions of classic songs where they just simplify the bassline to a 'plod' rather than playing the correct lines.... IMO, there is a 'discipline' to reproducing songs accurately.....
 22. It's could be one of a few things.... Maybe your musical style doesn't appeal? Maybe people don't live locally? Maybe people are older....? Maybe it's not what people are looking for at this time? Don't take it personally
