  3. Of course not. I was referring to their own performances. It is absolutely impossible to trace every performance of every song..... and an absolute administrative/processing no-go. It would cost more to research/process/pay than there would be money in the pot.
  4. How else are they supposed to do it? If noone provides the information how can anyone be paid? It's called the 'music business'. If you're a songwriter you need to take care of your 'business'. You can't leave it to someone else.....
  5. Plenty of disinformation on this thread so to put a few things straight: Venues are licensed by PRS/PPL, not the hirer. The 'main' business of the venue is what they are licensed for. A pub may have a jukebox, the radio and/or occasional live bands but if they do not have 'regular' ticketed events then they will just have a 'general' licence. If you regularly play at one of these establishments then you will need to apply for the 'Gigs & Clubs Scheme' at PRS. If you write your own material then you will see a small payment every so often for your trouble. If you play covers then you will reward the original songwriters, as you should... There is also a similar scheme for buskers on the Underground. https://www.prsformusic.com/royalties/live-performance-royalties#:~:text=If members play at a,is performed at the event. If the main business of a venue is ticketed events i.e. concert venue, arts centre, theatre, etc then approx 4% of box office is payable to PRS from the gross. This money is then paid out to the songwriters/publishers of the music performed after a small deduction for processing (under 10% - the lowest deduction of ANY worldwide Rights society). This 4% is SUPPOSED to be raised/paid by the venue (5p on a pint etc) and NOT charged to the band..... however, it often is added to band deductions which defeats the object if you write your own material. However, contrary to what some ignorant people think, PRS is NOT the music police and doesn't have any power to enforce the way a venue raises it's payable PRS licence fee. Also, because ticketed venues are often rubbish at asking for setlists from artists and supplying them on to PRS it is always recommended that for those performances a writer use the online PRS live set list hub to upload their set info. https://www.prsformusic.com/royalties/report-live-performances You're welcome...

  13. More of the same old nonsense. Gene actually played on probably 75 - 80% of all KISS output so that statement is incorrect. His reasons for not appearing on the rest were reasonable enough (away filming/song by bandmember who had written/demoed a suitable bassline already etc) Also, the Carol Kaye thing is a set up. He knows very well how to play bass and was appearing dumb for the publicity. If you haven't realised by now that Gene gets off on all the haters talking about him then you're missing the point.... see, you're all doing it again now As to this Gibson bass. I love the look and it's a cool reissue of his customised EBO from late 76/early 77. Price point is silly but the investors will buy them up and they'll disappear quick enough. I'm looking forward to seeing a circa £500 Epiphone version or maybe a circa £1500 Gibson standard model.

  15. I play 4 string exclusively. I don't play downtuned metal or modern dance music so have never needed more. Lowest I go is D so simply detune the E string, use a hipshot extender or the Digitech Drop pedal as required. I play Black Velvet in my band and never needed a 5 string? Odd....
  16. I was in a 'signed' band (European and Japanese distribution) that did a few cool shows but saw zero money and always had some 'Manager' or 'A&R' man making rubbish decisions. How do you pay the bills? I'd been running/playing in a KISS tribute as well at the same time that was a good regular payer, to decent audiences that sang every word and also involved well paid overseas gigs and tours so I chose that. Enjoyed the 'perks' for 25 years, including picking up endorsements with my two fave bass gear companies, until I realised the band was looking stale and my back was suffering. Moved over to the theatre circuit with a rock covers show and get my kicks there now. Get paid and in bed by midnight.
  17. I'd be happy with any reissue of this (and the 400RB) that was smaller/lighter and sounded identical while being just as robust and reliable!
