  1. There are different personality traits involved. In my experience, these are often: Practical "Whatever..." Dreamer Crazy I consider myself the 1st trait and ran an internationally successful tribute for 25 years. I considered distance, profile, costs, earning potential, family, and numerous other things when booking shows. A fellow founding member sadly fit a combination of the latter two traits. The two other band members fit the 2nd. I left in the end as I felt the other founding member was scheming against me with the other two on the fence behind him. I was right, but they continued with a replacement and the other founding member taking over. They haven't played internationally since, their reputation on the scene has suffered and even the two 'sheep' members ended up leaving too as they couldn't deal with his controlling, impractical ways.... Sometimes you just need more people on your wavelength or decide to move on to different and often better things. I can't be bothered to organise gigs etc anymore. It's a long and often thankless task, particularly with the lack of appreciation of band members. I now just do good deps, have just joined a local covers band with 3 guys for beers, laughs & pocket money.... and I leave myself open to bigger opportunities (like my 5 week Euro tour last year with a US blues artist). It makes for a less stressful experience....
  2. I carry spares but only hand them out on occasion in genuine circumstances. You soon learn which bandmates are never prepared and don't carry the gear they need, but still expect others to provide for free. Those people always get the stock answer "sorry, no I haven't got a spare one of those...."
  3. Anyway, that Charles Berthoud fella, eh? Pfff....
  4. I'd leave a patch lead in there permanently, avoids oxidisation build up 👍 I don't have any experience of the 400RB-III but I'd like to try one!
  5. For its size and weight it is very powerful and authoritative sounding with shedloads of punch and grind on tap should they be required. Nothing quite sounds like the 400RB/800RB though... they just have a certain something that's hard to quantify....
  6. Welcome to the 'knowledge'. I've played through most well known amp brands and I always come back to GK and, in particular, the original 80's/90's 400RB and 800RB heads. Pair either with an efficient 4 ohm cab and you have tone and volume for days. They're workhorses and will last years, punching through any mix with solid authority. Congratulations and enjoy the ride! Btw.... A suggestion that many owners of old GK owners swear by...... put a short patch lead between the send and return on the fx loop and leave it there permanently (if not using the loop). It stop oxidisation in the iputs which can cause some intermittent audio drop outs.
  7. Spector NS Pulse II is excellent and pretty light. Also worth checking out the Spector Euro Classic (Bass DIrect have them) if you have Spector GAS. These are classic looking PJ Spector models with a 'weight-relieved' body.....
  8. My opinion on Charles.... Impressive? Yes.... Talented? No doubt.... Does anything for me? Not in the slightest... Am I 'just jealous'? Not even slightly... Don't watch him anymore? Obviously...
  9. I currently have the following choices available: Heads: 2 x Gallien-Krueger 400RBs 2 x Gallien-Krueger 800RBs 1 x Gallien-Kreuger 700RB-II 1 x Gallien-Krueger Legacy800 1 x Tech21 VTBass500 Cabs: 1 x GenzBenz Nx212T (2x12) 1 x Hartke Neo112 (1x12) Combo: Fender Rumble 25
  10. GK800RB - The classic amp. Loud, punchy, authoritative and the most solid workhorse ever GK400RB - As above, just not quite as powerful (but still super loud!) GK Legacy800 - Fantastic tones in a small class D head Ampeg SVT II - 80's rock behemoth. Far too heavy and unreliable but what a sound...
  11. Met Dave today for a lovely trade.... my Spector Legend for his Spector Coda. Fantastic bloke with top communication. Highly recommended! Cheers Dave!
  12. Bought a Fuel Tank Jr from this splendid chap. Shipped promptly and well packed. He's a new seller so give him a go....
  13. Four now sold. Just this left: White 13 hole Precision
  14. Mexican Fender Precision Bass from 2017/18 in beautiful Lake Placid Blue (now discontinued). This bass has been upgraded with Seymour Duncan SPB1 pickups and a mirror scratchplate for full 'Steve Harris vibes'. I have also added a Badass II bridge. Excellent condition apart from an unfortunate ding behind the top back edge of the bass (can't be seen from front).... see pic. I can swap pickguard to white if preferred. I can also swap bridge back to Fender bridge. Looking for a very reasonable £450 for this. Cash on collection, Paypal (you pay fees) or direct Bank transfer. Postage likely to be approx £30. Please see my extensive, positive feedback thread for assurance of a clean, honest transaction.

  17. For Sale, my Boss ME-8B multi effects floor unit. In very good condition for its age and has barely been used in many years! A classic of its time with many great effects onboard including: Compressor Enhancer Defretter Octave OD Distortion Fuzz Humanizer EQ Synth Bass T wah Chorus Flanger Delay Reverb Apparently Stuart Zender used one of these on all the classic Jamiroquai stuff...and I know that Guy Pratt also swore by it back in the day. Asking a very reasonable £100 inc postage, with payment by cash on collection, Paypal (you pay fees) or direct bank transfer. Please see my extensive positive feedback thread for assurance of a clean and honest transaction.
  18. I've decided to move a few bits on to make room for new purchases or potential trades. Here is a stunning Korean-made 'Legend Series' Spector, manufactured in 2004-05 and blessed with the proper NS shaped body and belly carve. These, sadly discontinued, basses are highly regarded amongst Spector players due to their shape, neck and tone! This example is in generally excellent condition with just a very few light scuffs and a little tarnishing to the gold bridge. The neck on this one is particularly comfortable and slim with a lovely satin finish and the bass has a delightful, full and punchy tone. The crown inlays are inlay decals (easily removable if desired). The specs are as follows: Neck · Bolt on 3pc Maple neck with a Rosewood board, 34” scale length, with 24 frets · Width at nut: 1.64" Body · Original NS curved and carved Maple body with figured maple top · Black cherry finish Hardware · Gold · Bridge: Spector locking high-mass bridge, with intonation screws · String spacing at bridge: 0.75" (19mm) Pickups and electronics · Neck pickup: EMG HZ P · Bridge pickup: EMG HZ J · Preamp: EMG B30 with 3-band EQ · Controls: Bridge pickup volume, neck pickup volume, mid boost/cut and stacked treble and bass boost/cut I'm asking a very reasonable £475 shipped (with a basic gig bag) or it can be collected from Sandhurst/Camberley area for £450. The only 'Trade' options I'd entertain would be a Fender FSR P bass in white with maple neck and black blocks, a Spector Coda bass or an HX Stomp. Nothing else, thanks. Cash on collection, Paypal (you pay fees) or direct bank transfer are all fine. Please see my extensive positive feedback thread for assurance of a clean and honest transaction.
  19. Properly stunning piece! I guess, by trades, you mean an early jazz bass....? Otherwise, if something else, PM me with what you're looking for in trade....
  20. Yep, the 5 string and 6 string Spector JN models are both in the sale on reverb now. Big prices though....
  21. I can't imagine...... 😉
  22. Agreed. Disappointing....
  23. I hoped he'd be selling his 'And Justice For All' bass.... but it doesn't exist..... I'll get me coat..... 🤦‍♂️😉🤣
