  1. If you thought it was a new thing we have been looking at "In These Shoes?" by Kirsty MacColl, here are the Lyrics. I once met a man with a sense of adventure He was dressed to thrill wherever he went He said: Let's make love on a mountain top Under the stars on a big hard rock I said: In these shoes? I don't think so I said: Honey, let's do it here So I'm siting at a bar in Guadalajara In walks a guy with a faraway look in his eyes He said: I've got a powerful horse outside Climb on the back, I'll take you for a ride I know a little place, we can get there for the break of day I said: In these shoes? No way, Jose I said: Honey, let's stay right here No le gusta caminar No puede montar a caballo (I don't like to dance, I can't ride a horse) Como se puede bailar? Es un escandolo (How can I dance? It's a scandal) Then I met an Englishman Oh, he said Won't you walk up and down my spine It makes me feel strangely alive I said: In these shoes? I doubt you'd survive I said: Honey, let's do it Let's stay right here No le gusta caminar No puede montar a caballo (I don't like to dance, I can't ride a horse) Como se puede bailar? Es un escandolo (How can I dance? It's a scandal) The translation is incorrect for every version I have seen so far and it still makes no sense for those that can read it anyway. (@mcnach, ¿Las palabras en inglés son mal sí? No yo, es tú no bailar y montar. ) I always think throwing in some foreign words to make a song sexy is a dangerous game, the charts have a few nonsense ones in lately. Anyone got any others that come to mind?
  2. When you think about how many idiots there are in the world, myself included, and that everyone is included in that list of protected characteristics then it's not that surprising to find an idiot at the centre of this.
  3. It's not difficult watch, they are junk!
  4. She was there to accompany her daughter hence my comment that she isn't actually a fan and doesn't know the words.
  5. I think the Fishman helps a lot, I use mine on the suggested setting for double bass in the little booklet, I use mine with my mag pickup on my actual double bass rather than my EUB.
  6. I heard a lady talking about how they do it on radio 4 earlier, she says is takes a fully qualified signer around 30-40 hours to prepare for a show, just the main act the other problem being quite often the support act often isn't even announced until just before the show. Any genuine fans will know the words to the songs so maybe just a screen notifying the tracks would be good, this woman is just a Richard, She's not even into the band.
  7. It looks missing in that picture to me?
  8. Would you like them to make a better job of it than this one though?
  9. The nut slot cuts look both 'interesting'in their execution and much further apart on the G-D than the B-D?
  10. The small piece of nut next to the B string will last a few weeks at best with the B trying to pull to the side like that.
  11. I knew someone with one of these, I never worked out the reversed logo, is it so you can look at yourself in a mirror and pretend to be Jimi?
  12. I've said it before but if your songs need a specific bass sound to work live then you have bad songs.
  13. Well then... How was it?
  14. Now I was going to say Cort as 1 first but then you said the Ray was in series, that makes me think 2 is the Cort doing a very good Stingray impression and 1 is the ray in series, very cutting but lost a bit of the fatness that a parallel Ray would have had? I could happily gig either.
  15. Does it need to fit a genuine body pocket?
  16. Sounds like my cheap Stagg, looks nicely made.
  17. I like the look of that!
  18. Contrary to what I said in the driving thread I'd be happy to help out a band member in need. A drummer with a massive kit that can't drive because they enjoy drinking too much is different to one whose car is out of action.
  19. Correct dc provided by the batteries in the continuity tester, it does not give a reading of impedance. If the sticker on the back of a cab is missing or you have a selection of cabs you want to use like the OP you can take a continuity test across the proposed load to find the resistance, you'll need a lab to find it's impedance.
  20. If I test a speaker using a continuity tester I get a result of "resistance measured in ohms". It's a continuity test performed with DC voltage from a test instrument. Continuity is measured as resistance not impedance. Testing the terminals of a cab is not Testing impedance, that requires much more technical kit. So you either know the impedance as its given on the cab, or you have a lab to check or you know the 'resistance' measured in ohms, "the ohmage". You can then take "a guess at the impedance based on the resistance".
  21. Can we make Def Leppard jokes?
  22. So when you say "you can drive but don't" unless a gig comes up in that other country actually you can't drive, lol.
