I'm just thinking without the cone the motor would move freely and produce no sound but would have the variable characteristics of a speaker rather than a fixed value resistor. I've never had any amp flat out with a single cab anyway, either I had enough volume or the single cab farted out before, I'd imagine that is the case for most of us?

What would happen if you connected a extra speaker but with no cone attached I wonder?

If your amp is matched to your full setup of two speakers or more then ideally when it's only running one of the two cabs then it's only putting out around half of its oompf.

You can get dummy loads and attenuaters.

My classic 5 isn't too bad, between my normal 2004 Ray5 and 2010 Ray5 weight wise.

The sister of our guitarist is a world class violinist/mandolin player, she did the Adele tour and was told not to talk to her or look at her if she saw her outside of the dressing rooms. Singers and egos.

I don't think the weight was an issue, who wants a rattly bass cab? Probably something simple and easily fixed once opened up but why would you if you had an Aguilar and Ampeg to hand.

That's pretty much what we're doing, I've done some of the pch on a Harley but we're doing from the Mexican border to just beyond San Fran but in a Jeep Grand Cherokee to keep the wife and her bad back happy this time!
