FFS. I'd type more than that if I was selling a no name bitsa 🙄.

It does sound very odd. Could it be that there is a slight bend to the Jack on the transmitter or (more likely) that it doesn’t protrude at 90 degrees from the transmitter? Does it happen in just this bass or is it the same in others?

Nice. I really like K&M gear. Some of it is a little pricey, but I’ve found the stuff I have to be well designed and durable.

I wouldn’t say I always mess it up, because I don’t mess it up at all now 😂, but for a while when we added it to the set, True by Spandau Ballet became my nemesis. There’s a sax solo about halfway through which has an odd little bass riff behind it. One of those ones where if you don’t start it right, you have to wait until the next time round. I’m over it now fortunately.

Dream basses that left you disappointed

Very well put @Muzz, although if I had written that, Fodera’s, Statii, Wal’s and J’s would all be in the 👍 column. It would be very boring here though if we were all the same. -
Today I played Herbie Flower's 1959 Jazz Bass

You have to admire someone who signs up to a forum just to make a point 😂 -
You could say that for any stand.

I probably wouldn't use it for a gig, but that big old bit of foam at the top of the back rest is pretty well designed.

I guess the one that really stands out for me is an Alembic. Don’t get me wrong, I do like them and I had played quite a few before buying my first. Back in the day, Bass Central had a fantastic selection of Alembic’s and they were kind enough to let me play a selection of them including an MK Balance K, which was very nice indeed. Once back in the UK I saw a used MK Signature (not a K) for a decent price and bought it straight away thinking there wouldn’t be much difference. How wrong I was. For starters, the body was enormous and it weighed an absolute ton. Alembics aren’t known for their lightweight builds, but crikey this was huge, heavy and crucially, not very well balanced. I sold it for what I paid for it, so no damage done in the end. Forward wind several years and I now find myself the owner of another heavyweight Alembic, but this one’s a Spyder, so it’s a bit special and I’m happy to keep it 😀. -
Snap. Exactly what I have 👍

Ah, I see. Sounds like the issues they had were from their own doing. Can't hurt to have a back up wireless system can it? 😀

Hi Kev. I have to say I'm happy with my Line 6 and I'm equally happy that you have had good experiences with your Shure system. One of the things that bothered me about it when I was looking to purchase one was that the cable that connects the pack to the instrument is not a jack to jack (as far as I could tell). I've also read a couple of reports that the WA305 cables have a habit of failing. I presume from what you've said, you've not have one fail? Are they unique to the Shure system? I've had Shure IEM's for years and otherwise love their gear so could be persuaded to try this set. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Have you tried swapping channels? It sounds like something is interfering with the one you are using.

It’s que, not keh, and it’s THE Band.

Regretfully, this show has been rescheduled to 9/7/2022. June 21st has cast a shadow over the gigs immediately after that date and it has become too much of a risk for the band financially to allow the gig to go ahead. Our next gig will be at Chinnery’s in Southend, Essex on 17/9 followed by Fat Lil’s in Witney, Oxfordshire the following week.

I can’t believe I’m even typing this, but my pedal board is the one thing that has not died on me. I’ve had amps go and basses, but never a pedal board. Probably just jinxed myself 😂.

Another Hercules fan. I have four of them. Three are the ‘hanging’ type (a 1, a 2 and a 3 instrument stand) and the other one is this little fella (the stand, not the dog) which is ideal for a corner of the living room. Small footprint, takes any bass that I’ve tried in (other than my Sandberg 48/Alembic Spyder/Warwick Reverso/any other pointy type bass) and it folds away to hardly anything when not in use (can of Coke for scale). As @ped mentioned, these types of stands look a bit odd with offset bodies (as shown) but I find they are very stable. I know it’s not made of wood, but for £25 (bag included 😂), it does the job.

You wouldn't have enjoyed the process anyway. Part of the new set-up involves sending them a copy of a bank statement. Fairly painless and done within a few minutes though.
-
It seems to me that you're just scouting for an argument. Highlighting a famous bass player that didn't have more than one bass for a live performances does not remove the risk. I wouldn't call it unprofessional, more unprepared and willing to take the gamble. As I said before, I think the gamble is easier to take with a passive bass and a new set of strings.

Who plays the cards they are dealt?

I'll admit to having been someone who accepted what I had, but that's because I didn't know any different when I started. Some 40+ years down the line, I now know what I like. Added to that, I now have an issue with my fretting hand which means J width necks are much more preferable, so standard P necks are out.
