  1. I’ve just been accepted, it I did it in the band name rather than mine. We’ll see what happens.
  2. Ah, I’ll withdraw that then. It’s a public group so at least you can view it anyway.
  3. I just joined that group as well. Noticed a friends band has put themselves forward. Have messaged him to delete it.
  4. But, did you see the same lad rip it up on a Zon? Both of you may have enjoyed it even more 🤷‍♂️. No disrespect, but this has been round the houses many times. Put a great player on a cheapo bass and he/she is gonna be great whatever. Put a crap player on an expensive bass and he/she will still sound crap.
  5. Well done mate. What a way to crash out of this years challenge! Bravo 👏👏👏👏
  6. Just looked up the conversation I had with our singer about it (I was actually considering buying it) and it was £2750. Yeah, a bit of a mark-up I think.
  7. Having said that, I remember Bass Direct had one of those in stock as I saved the photo. I don’t recall it being referred to as a BFR though, but it may well have been. Perhaps they all are? Memory again may not be serving me well, but I seem to remember the price as £2799.
  8. It’s a BFR, so not truly indicative, but I was £100 off.
  9. Handed over my Stingray IV 30th to Trevor today ☹️. Sad day for me, happy day for Trevor. Great guy to deal with and thoroughly recommended. Basschat at its finest.
  10. Poor bloke can’t win. Gets hammered if he lip syncs at gigs and the same happens when he sings live 😂
  11. As a former Dingwall Leland Sklar Signature owner, I can say that they are quite different basses. Those mando frets really are something else and I think they are a large part of it for him because, as you say, he plays with a light touch, but can easily ground the string due to the mando frets. If I had bought the Mk2 three pick-up version to start off with, I wouldn't have sold it.
  12. Love those plain ebony boards. Good luck with the sale Mart. Someone is going to get a cracking ‘Ray.
  13. No, it's not Egyptian Smoke. It's Inca Silver with a black pearloid pickguard. It has a Status Graphite neck with a phenolic fretboard. Officially introduced on 18 January 2001 at the NAMM. All made within first couple months of 2001. Total of 100 made: 49 stayed in US, 49 shipped to overseas locations, 1 retained by Ernie Ball and 1 to NAMM organisers.
  14. You may to wait until I’m gone and you can haggle with Mrs.H over that one 😜 I do feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this one when I did.
  15. As much as I love a MM bass, sadly I think you’re right. They would have to reinvent the wheel in bass form for me to cough up that amount of money - and I do like a sparkly finish! The Specials were decent enough in terms of spec changes (I don’t like to call them upgrades as I’m not entirely convinced they are) and I did buy in, but I think that will be the last time. As you say, there are other options from independent luthiers where you can tick all your boxes for less money. Might be a bit of a longer wait, but that’s some of the fun.
  16. Part of that maybe that the Bongo has a big name attached to it - albeit with the 6 string variant. That said, Bongos are nice basses and are enough of a departure from their other models to hold their own - IMHO.
  17. Zoot Allures and Zomby Woof both by Frank Zappa.
  18. I would suggest if you haven't heard of The Vaccines then you're probably correct 😂.
  19. Well, they appear to be. They have "Neutrik" on silver coloured bit at each end and they are made in Germany. I've no reason to believe they aren't what they say, unless anyone knows otherwise?
  20. Dave, you’re such a Klotz. Sorry, couldn’t resist 😂.
  21. Has Tom Jones lost the plot? The tracks I’ve heard from his new album (currently Radio 2’s album of the week) are dreadful. I though Hole In My Head was bad, but Popstar is worse.

His voice has been poor for years and I think his management are trying to keep him in the spotlight with an odd choice of material that suits the constraints of his ability these days. If you listen to his live stuff in the early 70's with Jim Sullivan on guitar and his voice was at it's peak, it's like night and day.

You would expect his voice not to be as it was in the 70’s, but the song choices are terrible and they sound poorly mixed IMHO. Just sound empty 🤷‍♂️

  22. This has reminded me that I do need to get another Speakon cable as I only have one to share between two amps at the moment and would like a spare or two. I have quite a bit in my basket at dv247.com already and need to make it up to £150 to get free shipping 😂, so will be buying from there. The only Speakon cables they sell are ‘Music Store’ (which I presume to be their own brand) as well as Cordial, Klotz and D’Addario. They do also sell the £60 Vovox one (listed in the microphone section for some reason) which I’m tempted to try just for a laugh, but yeah, expensive. I’ve seen Cordial mentioned favourably here already. Any negatives for Klotz or D’Addario? I seem to remember @obbm used Klotz stuff when making interconnects.
  23. That is exactly what I was expecting 😂
