1. Hi, Just to add to the generally supportive view of John East here.. He's a complete gentleman and happily fitted a P-Retro 1 to my Dingwall ABZ last week.. To say I'm pleased is an understatement..... See the journey/photos here http://dingwallguitars.com/community/viewt...?f=2&t=1851
  2. Ordered an ART MX225 and Sennheiser wireless headset kit on Friday.. Arrived this morning (Wednesday).... Cheers Mark

  7. Hi, Due to a change in lineup, one of the bands I play keys in has a vacancy for a Bass Player.. Although we have some original material, currently we're focusing on cover material that suits our new singer, who frankly, is very talented, She best suits blues/contemplative pop stuff... We're well set up with our own rehearsal and recording studio just outside of Banbury, and we're all sensible.... Good PA as welll.. Being able to provide backing vox would be a huge asset in terms of spreading the load, since both I and the guitarist sing as well and we're looking to create some powerful vocal arrangements. We currently rehearse on a Wednesday afternoon from 2pm to 6 pm.. We have gigs arranged for July. At the moment I'm filling in the bass slot, but would like to get back to keyboards... Drop me a PM if you're interested... Cheers Mark
  8. Cheers Alex, It's one of those cabs everyone should own once in life, if only to see their guitards reactions :-)
The Terminator is a pretty cool cab! One thing you can be sure about is that it won't need much power to play LOUD - so with an amp that's 4 ohm stable run it at 6 ohms nominal (and it'll be louder than any 4x10" at 4 ohms and equal settings) or with the few amps that are 2 ohm stable then run it at 3 ohms. No 4 ohm nominal cab actually exhibits 4 ohm impedance across its bandwidth and no solidstate amp actually cares whether what the real impedance is as long as it isn't too low. 200W into the Terminator will handle loud rock gigs, no problem - the joy of size!
9. Hi, Runs at 6/3 selectable .. My BaseBass 600 drives it at 3 without a murmur..... And of course you can bi-amp it as I used to do with my Ashdown RPM-1/APM-1000 setup..
That terminator cab looks fab. Does it not run at 4/8 ohms?
Looping

Normally I accelerate to 2.5xVstall in level flight then pull 3.25g... Goes over very nicely :-)
  11. I'll have it :-) I'll PM you details...
Up for grabs is my Proline 4x10 cab. 800w 4Ohm. I wont be able to post it so It'll have to be collected or I could possibly meet up if its not too far. I dont have any pictures at the moment as the cameras batteries are flat so I'll try to put some up later. The cab is in very good condition with no issues at all apart from a bit of bobbling on the carpet and minor scuffs to the corners. It even has a fitted cover! Be quick! Cheers, Paul
12. +1
To go along with what others have said I would and do sometimes already play for nothing, as long as no one else is making, or what is made is going to a cause and not into someone's pocket
14. Hi Paul, I use SKB and they're pretty good... In terms of "rear" ears I simply pack the above and below the amp with tape covered polystyrene blocks/foam to support it... If you put it in a 2U case, with this support it holds it perfectly... Cheers Mark
Yo! So i've just bought myself a QSC RMX 2450. Now im gonna need a rack case/bag to put it in. I'm guessing gator or some company like that all work to standard sizes e.g. 19" etc. However, my question is specifically based on the qsc power amps, apparently in order to secure these at the back of a rack case, brackets bought directly from qsc themselves are needed, as the ears at the back of the amp do not stick out flush to the back of a rack and i've read if not properly secured front and back, can cause damage to either the front rack ears, or the rack itself. http://www.qscaudio.com/pdfs/rreg.pdf Has anyone managed to work out a solution (universal rack ears) or does anyone know where i can find these qsc rack ears in the UK? thanks for your time. Also, any recommendations on cases would be great Cheers. Paul
15. Doing some gear upgrades and I need the room... More info and pics to follow... Warwick Terminator cab 2x15 2x10 (1000 W RMS 3/6 ohms/biampable) with flightcase. £150.. Come on guys the Eminence drivers are worth more than this and the cab would make a super rabbit hutch... :-) [i]The Warwick Terminator features 2 Eminence 10" speakers + horn in it's own vented cab and 2 Eminence 15" speakers in a bandpass system. It has two speakon inputs and is carpet covered. It has both fullrange and biamp options, in fullrange mode a 300hz hi pass filter will stop the low frequencies from going to the 2x10 section. In Bi-amp mode, one speakon will be high input at 8 ohm and the other is low input at 4 ohm or 16 ohm which is switchable with the high/low switch. A chrome 3/4" horn in the upper cab with a attentuator at the back completes the cab. 16. Warwicks do seem to be the "Cabbage Patch" basses...
  17. Or the other way round how much better my bass sounds than my bassists (in the "keys" band) Rickenbacker 4003 through his rig :-) Mark
  18. I suspect that would depend on how many you have.... 50? 100? more? Maybe 50p each? Which means you'd want someone to pick them up as postage is probably going to be uneconomic and the post office/couriers will still find some way to damage them in transit as well :-) Cheers Mark
  19. Might be worth looking at some of the lightweight QSC's - PLX's, PL's and GX's... In terms of SPL you could gain an extra 3-4 db just by changing to a more efficient cab - bergantino or Epifani both run 410's with 103/4 db/1w/1m compared with your 410 HLF's 99 db 1w/1m Cheers Mark
  20. oops, just realized you said E-C not E-G :-) How about a 4 string ABZ? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ABZ4_Amber.html
Very nice ! Must admit I've wanted to own a Dingwall for a while, but I've pretty much realised that an E-C tuning is the way ahead for me. For those in the know (such as Sheldon or ofcourse any other owners of these lovely instruments), would I be correct in saying that the scale length etc. has been pretty much designed for the low-B or could one replace the strings with a high C tuning ? Or is this just a really dumb question ?
21. Eric Czar grabs my attention more and more... I just love the tone here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gBrLKFoTPo
Cool, Il admit there are some names on here i havnt heard before, so il type them in youtube and google later and have a good look, and hopefully il find some more music to get into, and more albums to buy!! My favorite bassist has to billy sheehan, not so much for his solo career but his career with MR Big, just for the awesome technique, especially when teaming up with paul gilbert, he also does a lot of bass work for steve vai. But then again, i do like free, there a great band, and deep purple are talented too. So many great bassist to look up, and loads more videos of them playing to learn things from, I Its Great! Billy Sheehan solo's; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5omFFeLEXFE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30YT0cG2EkE
22. Which is rated at 500 W RMS? 4 Ohms... The QSC will make 800W RMS or so into 4 ohms in bridge mode so you might want to be careful with the Master volume.. The good news is that you can't quite drive the QSC 100% on the input side so that helps.. Mark
