1. To quote from Spinal Tap "don't touch it, don't even look at it"
So, hang tags are the tags hanging on a bass when it's hanging on a wall? Cool
2. This should give you a clue :-) http://www.normansrareguitars.com/fender-1...-hang-tags.html
What are they?
3. For those effects that need up to 18V AC (not DC) this seems to be the biz... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT These tend to be harder to get your hands on than DC power supplies - I'm going to get one just to add to my toolbag.. Cheers Mark
 4. Where are you based? Cheers Mark
 5. +1... A UPS completely protects you from issues with the power supply... Not cheap though... Mark
my 2 eurocents Why not looking to UPS systems ? (www.apc.com among others). They have surge protection & filtering builti-in. No matter what, you have a clean source of power.
6. Is this an early (sliders) or later (knobs) for the parametric EQ one.. ? Cheers Mark
 7. Lots of love on here for TC RH450 and Genz Shuttle/Streamliner. You need to try them out though and see what works for you... Cheers Mark
 8. So a suggestion to the mods might well be that as a matter of policy that an item can't be advertised somewhere else for less money? Cheers Mark
I'll take that one step further. When a seller is selling something on this site at a certain price, but has it advertised elsewhere cheaper (sometimes considerably so). This happens more with non-UK based sellers, as they advertise it locally for a certain price, then decide to go to a UK site and for some reason think it's OK to bump up the price. There's actually an example of this happening right now, and I've seen it a number of times in the past. I'm always tempted to comment on the thread, but then, there's this rule in the For Sale not to do that., and to be honest, I don't feel like getting into an argument with all the do-gooders defending the seller saying "oh, he has the right to sell at whatever price he likes".
9. In the interests of scientific research I ran my RH450 into 2 x EBS Proline cabs (2 Ohms) for about three hours last night at rehearsal.. Although I never went above 3 on the master (quite loud enough thank you) the amp stayed as cool as normal with no shutting down... I don't intend to do this regularily but it seems stable into a nominal 2 ohms... I don't recommend that anyone else try this however, I was happy to trust in the protection circuitry, however this is out of spec... Cheers Mark
and THIS is in essence what the info in their website says. Because they designed the amp, and they know the behaviour of their speakers, they are confident that they work well together up to 3 cabs per amplifier. Other brands may work... but they have not tested them so therefore they cannot/won't recommend them.
10. Looks like Mr Stickley has them in stock now.. Good price as well.. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp..._Rebel_750.html I might have to go and pay him a visit tomorrow :-)
 11. The two Ricky 4003's I've played recently both had noise problems... It was worse when you were not touching the strings.... What was interesting (perhaps obvious) was that using radio bugs rather than a cable resolved the problem with the last one... Cheers Mark
MMM i am thinking this but the Ricky isnt really old, and has hardly been used before i got it.. it just seems a bit too coincidental that both basses have the exact same fault and behave in exactly the same way. Dont get me wrong if i have to pay to have rewires and improved sheilding i will.. but i really want to be certain. regards Keith M
12. Alternatively might make sense to take your basses and head to someone, rather than borrow their amp? Cheers Mark
If I end up heading up that way I'll pop in.
13. Just give him a call and see what he has in... When I've been there he's had plenty of stuff to play with :-)
Thanks for the offer markstuk. Your lucky living that close, my nearest decent shop is the bass centre in London. I have never been to bass direct, although have spoke to Mark............ he's a legend. Do they have much stock? My "local" shops only stock either practice amps or guitard gear, you have to order it in to try it out.. what a joke.
14. Try Bass Direct in Warwick.. And I should have my BFS12T in a week or so's time and you're welcome to try it.. I'm about 15 minutes drive away from Bass Direct...
 15. Wilkommen auf Basschat... ooopss... Bienvenue :-)
 16. As I get older I find reliability and courtesy in fellow musicians more and more important... My gut feeling is if they can't organise a rehearsal or communicate, then gigging is likely to be a disaster... I know sh*t happens but this is a pretty consistent track record of mucking you around... Cheers Mark
 17. My H&K BassBase 600 has both Speakon and a 3 Pin XLR Speaker connection.. I use OBBM's speakon-speakon cables for all my gear now.
 18. +111111 It's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.. If it's worth more than that to you, keep it..
I've never really understood why sellers get offended by what they think of as a low offer - just say "no thanks" and move on. Things have no inherent value, only what people are prepared to buy or sell them for. Even the price of gold fluctuates! If a particular item is only worth, say, £100 to you then it's reasonable to make such an offer. If the seller wants £1000 for it, then that's also a reasonable position to take. In such a case there is clearly no deal to be struck but I can't see why there should be any offence. Everything is negotiable, but not every negotiation ends in a deal.
19. In terms of private sales (I would suspect 90% of sales on here) very little of the sale of goods act applies. And also how are you going to enforce? "The rules change with private sellers If you're buying second-hand goods from private seller (someone who doesn't sell goods for all or part of their living) your rights are nowhere near as strong as when buying from a shop. The only protection is that it's correctly described and the owner has the right to sell it. Here it really is a case of caveat emptor or 'let the buyer beware'. So if the seller says nowt or little about the goods and you buy it, then that's it. Even if it's shoddy, you weren't mis-sold, so have no comeback. Though if they lie to you – you do."
In most part it is as I understand it. If buying from a company whether from here, or off ebay etc you are covered under the sale of goods act in its entirety, but if you are purchasing from a private seller then you are covered under the implied terms of the sale of goods act. In that case the old saying 'buyer beware' comes into act. If you are selling this "fender jazz, 5 years old, £xxx" - one question you want to ask is, does it work? As legally the guitar only has to match what the seller has advertised - a fender jazz that is five years old. So the more questions you ask, however trivial are in the best interests of both parties Information like this is definitely worth knowing.
23. You're right.. Normally I run an HK BassBase 600 into this rig, but the RH450 seems to run quite happily into 2 ohms... According to the manual it will shut down if it gets too hot...
DOOM! lol Bit confused though. What's the minimum impedence on the RH450? Is it 4 or 2 Ohms? The reason I ask is that the EBS Prolines I've got are both 4 Ohms because the EBS heads go down to a minimum 2 Ohm load. Cheers T
24. This seems to be quite loud :-) RH450 with 2 x EBS Proline 410's.. Although perhaps I've not quite grasped the lightweight side of things :-) Reminds me of the mouse/elephant sha**ing joke... :-0
Just a comment re the volume of the TC amps. I had mine plugged into an Ampeg 4x10 & 210, each about 97db sensitivity (so not over loud cabs), therefore using the full 450 watts at 4 ohms. In a punk band (Pistols/Clash etc) at a pub gig, capacity 100ish, the amp was on between 3 & 4, and if I`d gone up to 5, it would have been so overloud, in comparison to the rest of the band. Can`t possibly see how I would ever need anything louder than this - if playing bigger venues/stages there would be FOH to go through. Whilst I`m sure there are louder amps about (Orange Terror springs to mind, from experience) to me, its power that is unlikely to be used, certainly by me anyway. And TC does a great Ampeg impression
25. Or a TC sub thread, anyone know the real delivery date for the Blacksmith? THomann havejust pushed their delivery date from 2-5 days to the 31/5... CHeers Mark
