1. I think my favourite quote from a US forum post is.. MIM - Made in Mexico by Mexicans MIA - Made in America by Mexicans
If the neck pocket is is terrible then it was probably assembled from US parts.
2. QSC GX or PLX? Seen GX5's online for 300-350... Mark
Peavey IPR1600 perhaps? Doesn't bridge (well it does, but in some oddball way) but will do 500+ watts per side @ 4 ohms. REALLY lightweight (3.2kg/7lbs). I've been considering one myself... If it was 1U I'd have one already!
3. +1
Very cool!
4. Welcome on board.. Never enough female bass players.....
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum- at first I joined as you seem to have a pretty good community of second hand bass sellers, but really I'm always happy to chat to anyone about bass guitars. My knowledge is fairly limited as I am self-taught and mainly play by ear. I can't read music but tabs are ok when I'm a bit stuck (although they usually annoy me when I can plainly see they are not always 100% correct!). I have a black Dean Playmate 5 string, but one day I hope to be able to buy something nicer and more friendly to my tiny hands. My dream-bass? Hmmm, at the minute the unobtainable dream is an Alembic Darling. Other ones that have caught my eye recently are the beautiful and light Warwick Streamers. But yes, that is a long way in the future for me. My current mission is to learn to use a pick better. So yeah, hi!
5. I prefer Fenders to Rickenbackers if that's any help
Cant wait till the P gas sets in......
6. Really? If so, top tip :-) Mark
Stick some duct tape over the limiters microphone. Works for me. Frank.
7. Irony mode on.. It's probably to do with all the special components they use that no other manufacturer does... Irony mode off.. Or they bought a stock of pre RoHS components cheap and are still using them...
 8. how did the drummer/singer get the tracks into mp3 format without instruments? Other, now defunct, musicians? Forgive me, but it's hard to understand how the "songwriters" could compose without knowing the structure of the songs ... Why not post the mp3's here? I'm happy to give at least one of them a bash :-)
 9. I've got a pair of Active LD Systems Stinger 15A's (I use them for keyboards) that give our main Mackie 1521 tops a run for their money... They use BMS/Eminence Kappalite drivers and sound very articulate and clean... LD do unpowered versions as well - take a look at Thomann.. http://www.thomann.de/gb/ld_systems_ldeb_152_stinger.htm.. However the powered versions (apparently using B&O class D amps) are not that much more expensive...
I'd start with the Dynacord Powermate 1000. Then I'd probably look at EV cabs.
10. The mackie desks I've used have been fine (we currently use a CFX16 into Mackie 1501 subs/1521 tops) The PPm looks good for the money...
Does anyone have any experience of this unit or Mackie's in general. I'm thinking that I need to go down the Powered monitor route rather that separates Mackie PPM1008
11. welcome.. I like the Thumb :-)
 12. nut might be a little snug as well..(I'm assuming you'll want to fit a 125/130 "B" string..
 13. Which is what I was starting to think... There is an option to move it to a Monday/Thursday/Friday evening....
 14. Bump.. are the afternoon rehearsals an issue?
Still looking.. :-) rescue me from playing the bass, please someone :-)
15. My Exar IB-04 preamp/DI box/two instrument mixer pedal arrived this morning.. It's quiet and clean and gives me 20 db boost as well as a DI socket to relay to the PA.. Problem sorted... And it's got a headphone socket as well :-) Mark
 16. Always amuses me when they want to sell something for close to a grand at least, but can't be bothered to take proper photos.... :-)
Here's another ... unless its the same one http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=Fender+vulture
17. Might be worth a look at the Orange (CR25BX), Roland and Hartke small combos as well..
 18. Thanks for the tidy up :-)
Great arrangement.
19. Went to see Brian Culbertson at the stables in MK last night.. Otto was playing bass, although fighting with a poor mix he was soooo impressive... Some youtube footage from the london gigs earlier this week..
 20. Although you can always turn the "T" down via the hidden adjuster :-)
I don't think the T part will be great if you get some drive involved.
21. HI, The RH450 DI works with everything else fine, and the FX loop has the same level pronlem with the QSC2402. So a DI box that amplifies by 15 db would do fine, but I'm not sure I see the difference between this and my original posting ..:-) Cheers Mark
Why not fit a DI box in the FX loop of the head (assuming it has one)? That's basically where the DI (assuming it's post-EQ, if it's pre put it in front of the head) goes on the head so it should give the same results. I've not heard bad things about the RH450's DI though, maybe get in touch with TC and see what they say, there could be a problem with the DI out.
22. cheers... would be perfect if not quite so expensive :-)
 23. How about one of these? :-) http://www.tecamp.de/index.php?id=36
 24. I think this looks even nicer :-)
Stop it! I just keep imaging my STL9.0 on top of this beauty:
25. Yup, that's exactly how it's set up - parallel mono mode...
AFAIK, no one's built an amp that can go down to 1 ohm per channel Just wanted to make sure you knew about the parallel mono mode..... Was running the lower powered version of that power amp until recently
