Innit? Oh - forgot to mention... from the look of the cavities, she used to be candy apple red.
It would look lovely in CAR again!
I expect you'd have to have it specially made. Anyone with a Dremel, a few grades of sandpaper and an ounce of common sense can make a very nice scratchplate BTW. I'm surprised more of you don't have a go at it yourselves.
Because I'd still have to buy a blank sheet of scratchplate material which would probably cost more than getting a 'plate made by Howard?
Hi all. Has anyone upgraded to these? I'm looking to upgrade my Jazz, with Fralins, Delanos and Nordstrand making the shortlist. I'd like to see if anyone has used them before I discount them. Cheers folks, Drew
I replaced the Quarter pounder in my Nate Mendel Precision with the AG 4P-60. It's amazing and at £115 delivered, a real great price for such a big improvement. It's way more traditional in tonal terms than the quarter pounder. It's fatter sounding, still has clank and clarity with the tone knob on but has a much more old school (less aggressive) precision sound as the foundation. Apparently this comes from the materials (heavy formvar wire, Alnico V magnets) which were selected to replicate the sound of the original fender 60s precision pickups that were in Aguilar President Dave Boonshoft original '63 and '64 precisions. Having owned (and tried!) a fair few pickup upgrades from EMG, Nordstrand, Wizard, Lindy Fralin, Delano etc, the Aguilar are my personal favourite by some way!
Something wrong with the mix then?
Ah that's not fair! The engineer might be crap at mastering... Or sleeping on the job! :-P
Tried some cream ..... still won't go away ! I mustard-mitt the neck dive is not a concern for me, just fancy something different to the P-Bass but usable with pop, rock, classic rock, indie, bit-o-everything but fun to play too !
We have two 2013 Gibson SG basses (brown faded and a heritage cherry standard) at work and I love them both. The SG standard is going for silly money so I have to fight temptation almost every shift. Normally I'm not a Gibson bass fan but they are both lovely examples and the tone from the standard is awesome. Fat and thumpy humbucker which oozes vintage rock vibes. Sorry, this probably hasn't helped your (or my!) gas at all lol!
Marco De Virgiliis of Markbass But yeah, I appreciate the sentiment, it's great when company representatives, especially owners will get in touch with their customers directly
And in my experience, the two Daves at Aguilar are just as approachable/happy to chat about gear too :-)

I have a lovely vintage Phuku 4x10 cab and 500w amp that I always offer if anyone asks if they can use me gear... They soon get the message.
I did consider going down to Electro but according to their website they've only got three 5-strings in at the moment.
Gear4Music? They aren't just a warehouse so you can try stock from the warehouse in the showroom if you ask to have it sent across. Just check on the web to see if they have the Fender and Yamaha in stock and go try them!
I think they have promised to allow demos only for 15 minutes every hour this year, and make sure everybody adheres. But I can't seem to find anything about it on the website.
This is a great idea!
Burroughs at 100 "Here comes Johnny Yen again, With the liquor and drugs, And the Flesh Machine." Even for those that don't know William Burroughs, he's easy to find. He's in the lyrics to Iggy Pop's Lust For Life and on the cover of Sgt. Pepper. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03v9p0x
And stars in a U2 video lol! Junky is still one of the best books I've read. He was a great and troubled man but has inspired such much of popular culture through his involvement with the Beat Generation. Inspirational and much preferable to Kerouac or Ginsberg IMO.
Ellie Gouding? Sing properly, pet. The silly voice just sounds daft.
Too right! Prince is the only one who can offer anything at the Brits tonight.

I bought mine through work and have both neckplates. I wouldn't ever use it and it's sat in the gig bag. If they're going for a lot, I'll be flogging it lol! I won't be getting rid of the bass and as far as I'm concerned, the 'FF' plate is a total gimmick.
Thanks for the discussion, appreciate everyone has their opinion. Fenders generally need a setup when they arrive. I had a tech look at this and lower action. He said it can go lower but I prefer it where it is. At the end of the day, it is a Fender, has SD pickup, Badass bridge, looks amazing with the flame neck and is over £200 cheaper here for a 6 month old one than a brand new shop bought one.
I've got one and I love it. Someone is going to be VERY happy with this! Like you say, needs a good look over to adjust the action to taste (if you like a very low action) but it only took me a new set of strings (my preferred gauge) and about 15 minutes to get it bang on and you've already done that for the prospective new buyer :-) If I didn't have one, I'd snap it up! SOMEONE BUY IT!

My Geddy is CIJ and my Nate Mendel is MIM. They're both excellent. I haven't played a precision before that I like as much as the Mendel and we've had a fair few through the shop from all Fender ranges and I've played a number of vintage precisions. The quality these days has to be great because there is so much competition in the budget/mid range price bracket!

Tedeschi Trucks - Revelator...

Also check out D'Addario Flex Steels. They're even brighter than standard steels so you are likely to get the tone you've achieved with steels but a little more intensely!
Maybe they should be called 'junked' not reliced. Or maybe 'f***ed', 'heavily f***ed' etc
Just because it's not to your taste doesn't mean you should belittle the man's work. He clearly takes great pride in this and obviously has a customer base for it, so maybe say that it's not for you in a less personal, disrespectful way? I actually quite like it and can tell that a lot if love went into them, even if the aesthetic is not to everyone's taste (when is it?!)... The reviews of buyers seem nothing but great too. I might take a punt on a P!
So it's likely to be closer to the £1500 if you want the DI included; I for one can't see the point of 'excluding' a DI as you never know when circumstances will change and you may need one.
I'm the opposite. I don't understand why people would use a 'pre-EQ' from the amp. I'd rather use an outboard DI that I can sort a nice tone with, send to the FOH from there and also to the amp and use amp EQ for fine tuning of tone/getting a nice 'on stage' sound that can differ from what is required from the FOH. Also, most FOH engineers don't want the same EQ/tone that's coming from your amp, they want a dry signal and sort the EQ themselves, so it makes just as much sense to have the DI outboard in that situation. Also, I find the isolation on outboard preamps/DIs much better than the noisy, poorly isolated DI that most amps I've had/played through seem to feature. I'd buy an amp without DI without a second thought if it sounded good :-) Just my opinion though :-)
