Explain PA setups to me like I'm an idiot
Downunderwonder replied to proy900's topic in General Discussion
You should me more concerned with blowing up your hearing. Never plug more than one amplifier into a speaker. If it isn't obvious what cables are what you should check with someone before hooking it up. Mind out with the output sliders. If something isn't making any sound, turning up the output won't fix it. -

The nitro is still smooth on this bass. I left the body for around 4 weeks before I flatted the finish then buffed it to a shine. As for the staining on the pickguard edges, that was simply yellow wood dye, applied with a cotton bud (do this with the pickguard off the body! If you tried to do it with the pickguard in place, it would be very easy to hit the nitro on the body, which the nitro simply loves to soak up, making clean-up a nightmare)

I was really impressed with this the first time I saw it and more so now I've had a follow up listen. I think this puts to bed the arguments about putting bass through PA with no back line or the use of (great) quality 12" tops without having to use subs. It clearly can be done and outdoors too. It also shows you don't have to sacrifice bass tone because that was spot on too. That's not saying that subs are inappropriate in other situations with different music, bigger arenas or for whatever reason but that this is a PA with wide applicability which would do most of the gigs the majority of us do. I wouldn't claim to sound this good but I gigged for four years with QSC K12-2's and never a problem or hiccup with bass and Kick going through the PA. We used subs twice I think in four years and only for outdoor gigs. And Al I love the band

Just the PSU left now. No box but I will include a mains plug USB adaptor plus a short micro USB cable to charge the PSU with. Here we have a used but not abused Rockboard Tres 3.0 pedalboard setup that, with the addition of the power supply and patchbay, means you are set up and ready to go. No need for mains power to the board, you just charge the power supply before the gig and you can enjoy hum-free pedals all night! I've never had any issues with this setup. The battery can do a two set gig with no issue. New, all of this would have been £200, so I think £125 posted is fair. Thanks for looking EDIT: Forgot to add proof of ownership to the pictures, but hopefully pages and pages of feedback (see link in signature) will confirm I am a legit seller!

Lovely looking bit of work!!! Any issues with the paint shrinking into the grain yet? I just had to re-spray the one I’m doing as left it to cure for a month then it shrank into the pores despite grain filler and sanding sealer. I suspect the recent heatwaves have played havoc with the nitro causing it to shrink.

I picked this up from @Basilpea not that long ago. It's a great cab, but it isn't a cosmetic match to my other AT210, so being the fickle person I am I want to replace this... It's got some small dents from being gigged, but overall in good condition and absurdly light. You can pick it up with two fingers! It's also very loud. W52 x D33,5 x H57 cm 600 watts at 4 ohms 103dB SPL Also comes with GR Bass soft padded cover. GR say: The lightest 2×10 bass cabinet in the world. Thanks to its size, lightness, and power, the AT 210 is one of the most versatile cabinets in the entire catalog. Suitable for both small and large live shows, it allows you to always have your sound with you. With the AeroTech line, you can have the incredible innovation of our Carbon Fibre cabinets combined with the Pure Sound of GR, which is the pure sound of your instrument. Incredible sound, lightweight, power, impact resistance, and a beautiful modern design. I'm afraid this is collection only, as I don't have anything suitable to ship it in. No trades either thanks. I'm using @Basilpea's pictures, which I hope he's okay with.

DoI = Den of Iniquity thread on Basschat. Home thread of nonsense, waffle and good humour. Most folk who contribute are nuts (I am proud to be one of the regulars). Drop in Terry. It'll take a day or so to work out what's going on, but a better bunch, you'll struggle to find.

Such a shame. Always loved the sound of things he was involved in. Would have thought that something akin to Parkinson's would have been noticed, and 'dealt with' or no concert would have gone ahead. I wonder if a stroke of some kind isn't behind the scenario you describe? Here's hoping things improve for him, whatever. His music has made millions happy.

Yesterday was an exciting one: a pedal I've been waiting for for a couple of years arrived. The backstory is a bit convoluted but I ended up with a 3 Leaf Audio Chromatron that was a little battered and losing its graphics. I reached out to Zac Sweeney at Malaise Forever and asked if he would be willing to finish it however he liked because I love his designs. That was in May 2023. A lot has happened with Malaise Forever shutting down and then reopening in a different form; there were times I wasn't sure I would see the pedal again so it made opening the box yesterday very sweet. I've posted some photos of the finished article below (and, as a bonus, I now have a box for the pedal!).

I've owned many Tech 21 pedals, including BDDI and VT (which is great for Ampeggy tones), but my fave due to its flexibility is the Para Driver DI. It does everything I need from a preamp/DI.
