  1. Past hour
  2. Mexican P-J , my go-to gigging bass. Love it.
  3. A bit late posting but here’s the draw https://fb.watch/C2HTnT-4e_/? The Midas has now gone to its new home and we raised a huge £10890! thanks to those who supported this project
  4. A genuine rarity. A bass for the 5-string player who likes the sound of 8-strings but would like that bit of extra range. I'm thinning the herd and this one doesn't get used. I'd hang on to it if I wasn't being ruthless. Bolt-on construction, quite a chunky neck (as you'd expect), active with volume, blend, treble, and bass. The bridge allows individual intonation adjustment for each string, rather than pairs of strings as some lower-quality instruments do. Action is low. I put new strings on it when I got it and it's been used very little since then. Some small marks on the body and slight dents on the back of the neck, nothing significant though. Mahogany body and neck with oil finish, rosewood fingerboard. It's in Tamworth, close to J10 M42 - I'd prefer not to ship it, but I will travel a bit for a meet up. As this is a herd-thinning exercise, I'm not looking for swaps. Probably.
  5. Mate it sounds INSANE. Very good to work on the 2 band EQ, I've had 3EQ Stingray specials and never missed it. It is the nicest bass I've had to sell...
  6. The Trace kit is very repairable -- no sanded off IC numbers and parts you can see without having to buy a Mantis!
  7. Ha, Annie Lennox is going to be so annoyed at that.
  8. Captain Kirk has got a date on the Enterprise Holodeck with Nurse Chapel in his favourite romantic piano bar on Aurora Prime. However, alien microbes have got into the matrix so when Kirk goes to find Christine admiring the view from the bar's private beach he finds she's actually a bloke called Derek from Redditch... This month I've sort of followed the Baloney route, to some extent! I programmed a manic 150bpm drum track, and did a 1 take bass improvisation over the top. Then I stuck 2 tracks of piano "accompaniment" on it and 3 tracks of wah guitar noodlings. Drums programmed using Impulse pads triggering identical midi sounds from EZ Drummer (Clyde Stubblefied kit), and Ableton's Arizona and Exposed kits. Bass is Sandberg DI-ed via Focusrite (double tracked, touch of delay on 1 track). Piano is Ableton's Grand Piano, and guitar is a battered Strat with clean Helix wah and Bias FX bluesdrive. Everything is rolled in Ozone 9 and Neutron 3.
  9. Weirdly, so did mine!
  10. In the final stages of completion . Just waiting for an additional control knob to come
  11. Today
  12. Laney RBH800, 300 watt, bought as a beater to leave at a rehearsal space, now surplus to requirements. Works perfectly. Collection or meet up reasonable distance from Norfolk/Suffolk border.

  13. Very impressive - bet it sounds as good as it looks too. GLWTS.
  14. Yes indeedy Neeps, easily the best thing to come out of Aberdeen since Denis Law. Well done that man.
  15. Very interested in this too. The Nordstrand is a great upgrade for the Japanese pup, especially if you want more definition. The JMJ has a custom Mustang pup, wasn't this done by Seymour Duncan? It's a very P-bassy sounding pup, a bit more body than the Mustang. As far as I am aware. @DanDoesBass tell us more! 😊
  16. I've got one of their C24's (picked up second hand) and an X24 crossover and they are both great, Grant is very responsive to questions on instagram message too. He recently advised about running the X24 at 18V to match my drive pedal headroom at 18V, not understanding tech all that well, it was very much appreciated.
  17. With eleven tuners on one side of the headstock and one hanging on for life on the other?
  18. Wow, forgot I still have this. Open to offers.
  19. I’d say it’s more subtle, although when it’s fully counterclockwise it gets nice and smooth. The few times I’ve used it I tended use it max out on either side. Greg the owner of Celebrity Pedals is very responsive on Instagram/Reverb/his own website if you want to ask for exact specs!
  20. Knobs. Eh? Heeheehee. I don't often find myself admiring a knob but those look good.
  21. So, this topic has caused me to venture into the workshop and sift through my stash of valves. It's resulted in the Bassman getting a bit of TLC, and a few new valves. However, I have also realised that I have more valves than I will ever need in my lifetime (what remains of it), some of which I've hoarded for decades. I'm going to start selling some off, and have put a few on Reverb already. Mods - if the following link is not allowed, please let me know, and I'll remove it and try to create an ad here in the Accessories section. Discount available for Basschatters. Also feel free to ask if you're looking for anything in particular, I also have a lot of pre-amp valves which I'm wading through now. https://reverb.com/uk/shop/robs-house-3 Rob
  22. Anything above a 4-string is weird. There was a 12-string bass on No Treble the other day - NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  23. This is where I think he's being clever; take the guilty plea for a few crimes, in a short time frame and not get it to open court where other misdemeanours could be dragged up.
  24. I like to buy this kind faulty kit and repair it. It's part of the fun. I've had Ashdown amps, did a bit of fixing and they sound great. It's also good because it can put back into circulation otherwise decent kit.
  25. Coming up soon, 1st public Weeds gig in at least 9 years. We're actually thinking of having a rehearsal! Exciting support bands too, and limited capacity...
  26. Hopefully this is where they chop off his hands. Seriously though, this guy seems to be wedded to this lifestyle and a career criminal.
