  1. Past hour
  2. Hi Folks, Do to ongoing, internal commentary on the interior spatial constraints we have here at Silverfoxnik Towers, I really would like to move this on now, so here's a Saturday morning BUMP for this fantastic, lightweight cab, which sounds glorious - especially when used with my Mesa Carbine head that's also for sale here.
  3. For me, this is super easy, my best purchase was the Harley Benton Custom Line Chorus CH-5 pedal. As a fretless bassist, I'd been on an endless mission to find that awesome Chorus tone that I'd always had in my head. I've tried EBS, EHX, Behringer, Boss, MXR and many others but none came close to that lovely 80's Chorus tone. I then stumbled across a Bass The World video of the Harley Benton Custom Line Chorus CH-5 pedal and it was the tone I was after. At £33 it was worth a shot and I can honestly say it is unbelievable, absolutely perfect. Sadly, it's been unavailable for the last few months and I contacted Harley Benton to purchase a backup but sadly they said they will not be making them again.
  4. Hi Folks, As already said, I really would like to move this on now, so here's a Saturday morning BUMP for this beautifully designed and engineered Mesa Carbine, which sounds glorious - especially with my Greenboy fEARful 15/6 cab that's also for sale here. If anyone's interested in both the amp and the cab, then I'm sure a deal could be done on the price for both. Thanks for looking and have a good weekend! 👍😊
  5. This explains it pretty well. The diagram half a dozen posts down on this thread explains it pretty well.
  6. I purchased the How Dare You album on cassette and couple of singles as a kid . Great album at the time . Got bored of I’m not in Love and Dreadlock Holiday pretty quickly. The BBC4 documentary was pretty good a few years back .
  7. I’d go for “yes you need a P bass”. I play a P bass with flats and two identical active Yamahas with rounds on. The Yamahas are more dynamic, powerful, easier to play etc. But I keep eventually coming back to the simplicity of the P bass. For me the sound just fits in perfectly with a band. Can sound basic and dare i say “a bit cr@p” on its own, but in a mix it shines. And also, given such a rudimentary design, I think that cheap and cheerful P basses can often nail the sound and vibe pretty well without spending a fortune. So yeah - the limitations and simplicity of a P bass are also its strengths I reckon.
  8. Can you imagine the egos at work here? Gouldman with his pre-10cc writing credits and Stewart with Strawberry Studios, The Mindbenders and his session work. Godley and Creme both seemed quite obstinate and difficult.
  9. Despite lots and lots of PMs, it's still available, so here's a Saturday morning BUMP for this beauty... Have a good weekend, Folks! 😊
  10. Thanks all for information
  11. What a beautiful piece of kit this is... I seem to remember that @Chimikehad one of these back in the day, and he brought it to a mini West Sussex Bash that we had about 12 or 13 years ago and it sounded absolutely immense!! A sound that literally terraformed the inside of your ears in new and fabulous ways... If I was curating a Museum dedicated to iconic Bass gear, this would be proudly sat on a special plinth as you walked into the 'Best of British' wing... GLWTS 👍😊
  12. I've not joined the queue yet as I was hopeful they'd start to come available by now. Looks like I'll be waiting a little bit longer.
  13. OK first of all I wasn't sure which batten to specify, conventionally timber is specified by its sawn dimensions and then planed down afterwards. Years ago this was only partially mechanised so wood was planed until it was smooth with variable amounts removed ending up with slighlty different thicknesses. In the end I used the 22mm that B&Q specified for their batten. I don't think the extra volume will be significant. Screw and glue, The whole design of the 'easy build' cab is based upon the ease of forming really strong 90deg joints without needing clamping. The screws hold everything in place and put pressure on the joints until the glue sets. The glue is what gives the cab it's final strength (it's stronger than the wood) and it also seals the joint so it is completely airtight. One option is to assemble the cab 'dry' with just the screws to check everything fits properly. You can teh take it apart and assemble it with the glue. I'll explain the gluing procedure later today. Using a 2x8 with the speakers in a separate cab is just like combining any two 8ohm cabs and I always install twin sockets on my cabs so that I can do this. If you wanted to build a 2x8 in a single box it needs to be double the size but crucially the ports need to be changed to keep the larger space tuned to the same freequency.. I'll be back later today with some links and advice on the build.
  14. Well it's somehow already the start of November and following on from the same topic we've successfully run since 2017 - a chance for some useful hints and tips with Xmas goodies still ahead, and, of course, nothing to stop us changing our minds between now and year end! As with previous years, the only "house rules" are that it's bass gear and something you bought (or at least arrived) in 2025. Here's the last thread in the series from 2024 as a reminder of some of the goodies we bought then. Obligatory GAS inducing pics please!
  15. Thanks for the offer of help. I will take it up. If it's clear enough for me I should be able to document it for other people. I can solder so that's not an issue. Today's activities are dog walking and cutting holes without damaging myself and ruining the already cut plywood.
  16. Truly magnificent and rare in this finish!
  17. I’ve just come across this thread and so am happy to add my 2013 Graft. It’s a marvellous bass and has prompted me to get another bass from Alan. I’m expecting a new Graft 4 J type to be delivered this coming week. I’ll post pics when it’s here.
  18. If you're not sure how to do this, then post a photo of the back of the plates showing the connectors and I'll try and help. Can you solder ?
  19. Yup I reckon so, he also pretended to be in a police station when he phoned me, well the 'policeman' phoned me. He even sent a pic of the policeman behind the desk. Obviously I knew it was bollocks and asked for the police station number so I could call him back to confirm it was real. Apparently that station didn't have a direct dial number 🤣 Hope he gets the book thrown at him
  20. They even just look cool! All those controls, the styling, fantastic.
  21. Now reduced to a Basschat exclusive price of £150!
