  1. Past hour
  2. I have one ! I think you should put the YouTube link to the Bad Gear Review also ! Great fun..
  3. I've just started to experiment with my Cube Baby BASS which I bought a few months ago. Thanks to this video, I'm starting to work out what to do!
  4. Why's that ?
  5. Thanks, I hate it.
  6. Looking at the NedCom pictures of the back of the bass, it looks like it has through the body stringing (presumably for the E and the B). Is that correct? It's difficult to tell from the photos
  7. Tommy the rat - Primus
  8. Me too - but with it being EBMM/SBMM you know they'd just massively increase the price instead. The shipping fee for a one off was fine - but when it was obvious that there would be loads in a container at the same time that was taking the piss a bit.
  9. You can leave your rat on - Joe Cocker
  10. Hope you're good. Just checking if you're still interested in something new? Thanks.
  11. *PRICE INCLUDES UK POSTAGE * Wicked pedal! Tracks beautifully. Only selling as I’m now using multi-effect unit. In great condition (I may even have original box…can’t find at the moment m). Does an octave below and/or above. Also has an independent boost effect. Blurb here: Octavius tri-tone generator has 4 controls LO OCT, HIGH OCT, MASTER MIX and BOOST. LO OCT knob lets you set the volume of the lower octave signal produced by the pedal. HIGH OCT knob controls the volume of the higher octave signal produced by the pedal. The balance between the levels of these 2 knobs is what creates your particular octave-divided sound. Experiment with your mix, and you’ll be amazed at the variety of effects you’ll get. MASTER MIX knob lets you set the overall volume of your low and high octaves compared to your direct signal. Use the BOOST knob to control the output of your octave-divided sound. The boost function lets you dial in a solo level, whether the overdrive circuit is activated or not.
  12. Bought these recently here and they’re great but I decided to go with my preferred choice on a bass I’ve modded for a particular situation. In my trial with them I found them to be quiet and even with low output as described (alnico standard) but much better than stock pickups. In other words...pro improvement. My East UK active preamp has gain adjustment so that didn’t pose a problem. I thought they were vintage voiced (60’s) but even slap style sounded pleasant. I preferred the more hi-fi sound of the EMG for the stuff I’m doing (plus I have more vintage styled instruments available). I also did the series/parallel switching with them and that was great (versatile option) but you can choose either as both ways sounded great. The original post: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/518269-celinder-ss-humbucker-alnico-jazz-pickups-sold/#comment-5561431 I have epoxied the tabs so they’re much better and poses no problems to mount the pickups. I’m asking what I paid for them and this includes UK shipping.
  13. Ah….a post comic/highjacker! That should cost you a pack of strings. I’ll pm you my address!🤫
  14. Also…don’t mind a trade for a decent bass cab…???
  15. Gigged one the other day! Shame that they’re not getting as much use and love as deserved 😖

The concept of buying 2nd hand basses does not phase me at all. 2nd hand monitors from an unknown source are just slightly too exciting for me. I shall go and listen to some options later on in the month. The interesting bit is that once the Yamahas were Sonor Works'd in place they were not a significant step up from my 1983 B&W DM110i + my Mission Cyrus 1 amp. Different, yes, but not "oh wow!!!" better.

  20. I don’t want to have to do this but unemployment is forcing some tough choices. This is my as-new Grand Slampegg which I imported from new last summer. Only ever played at home. It’s a fantastic B15 preamp using the correct tube. The sale also includes two NOS military spec USA Tung Sol 6SL7GT LC30 tubes. These came highly recommended by buffs on a B15 forum and have not disappointed. They were £80 each. (The original Sovtek tube is also included.) Comes in all the original packaging which includes the little bag. Price includes fully-insured UK postage via Royal Mail Special Delivery. I’ll get some better pictures up in due course. Any questions, comment here or PM me.

I'll throw in my £0.02. If the Yamahas are doing what you need them to do, great. There's nothing that beats auditioning something in your own space. Otherwise the marketplace is pretty crowded around your budget level, so options abound. I'd throw Focal into the mix if you're looking for brands to consider - I just switched away from Genelecs to a used pair of Solo6 Be's (a model from few years ago). I'm impressed enough that I'd consider what Focal have to offer in their less expensive models. My dream is to own something from the PSI Audio lineup, so I don't have as expensive taste as your ATCs 😆
  23. It's a bit flat... a pearl finish would have been snazzier. Ultimately it's always going to be second-best to burgundy mist metallic though 🤩 Didn't they try mixed-magnet pickups a few years back? And people said that they sounded much better if you took them out and rotated them 180 degrees 😆
  24. Today
  25. From a manufacturer's perspective, pickup differences are the easiest and main way for the manufacturer to differentiate cheap/expensive product lines in terms of tonal differences. I swapped out the 'vintage alnico' pickups on a Mexican Classic 70s bass for then-current AV75 pickups and it turned an anaemic, polite instrument into a snarling funky monster. I know I could have got close to that sound another way, but the pickup swap was simple, it's inherent to the bass itself which is useful when going through house/rehearsal rigs, and I enjoy playing that bass a lot more with those pickups in.
