I auditioned one in the Gallery. They play, feel and sound amazing but they are quite hefty even when siting down.

Yes. Custom order for my birthday. -
Now that's the best news I've heard since I got the fretted semi-hollow bass. I am a very happy man!

I've never had a Lakland, but that is a lovely piece of Lakland/Dan Lakin history. How long have you had it?

So I have a 2014 Warwick Corvette WPS 6 string bass. It has an Ash Body, Ovangkol neck, wenge fretboard. I've put a new JAN III on and refinished the body with nitro black and clear coat. Replaced the pickup screws and sorted the missing grub screws in the bridge. Bass is now in great condition, zero fret wear. I think 2014 was the end of the WPS series, Pro series went back to Germany. I've had a few Warwick's over the years so can compare build. I think this is a great build. Setup is sweet. Bass comes with a gear4music foam case. Any question, please ask.

Is that an ultralight Lionel? Ive had 4 Lionels, alder bodied and they’ve been remarkably consistent at 3.3-3.4Kg. -
Thats @MrDinsdale and @Paddy777! Thats really really informative, helpful and very much appreciated!

Plus the weight of the rope to stop them floating away . Those really are light and I thought my other basses were light at 3.2kg or thereabouts. -
And that's the reason i always post or print off the set list for our gigs when we make any changes depending on venue or add any new songs. We've had occasion where we started off in different songs only to find someone was using an older set list. Doesn't happen now tho. I do like your sense of humour with your band but i'm not sure our guys would appreciate that kind of joke. Think i would be looking for a new job. 😂 Dave

Billleivers started following Ed Reynolds Lakland 4 94

Just wanted to introduce my bass in case there’s any interest! I bought it 14 years ago after searching for a USA made Lakland in the UK - unsuccessfully! I was on the verge of importing a new 4 94 from the USA when this popped up on eBay from a collector in Chicago. It’s a one off 4 94 made by Ed Reynolds from parts supplied by Dan Lakin. Ed was luthier consultant to the fledgling Lakland operation. It has a chambered body, pre-CBS Jazz pickup in neck position, Seymour Duncan MM in bridge position, nitro paint finish (lots of dings!) and fabulous neck. It’s been my go-to bass since I bought it and I love it, though very few bass players I meet in the UK seem to know much about USA Laklands, let alone a one-off like this!

Its live music, sometimes things go wrong. Think we've all experienced this at some stage. Was it Hotel Caledonia that was on. I know the bass player thru FB. Dave

Indeed, I did make that Telebass a while back!! Thanks all for the kind words about the basses I’ve built. I’ve not built anything for a while but am starting to finish off projects, including the fretted twin to Franks semi hollow bass. Pictures will be posted in the build diaries. Cheers all!

I've never built cabs from solid timber (though I have built plenty of other stuff), but for a given density/type of timber, solid is actually noticeably stiffer than ply. Weight would depend on the timber species (and individual planks) chosen but ought to be roughly equivalent to the same species as ply. Machine-cut finger joints would look cool IMO. Functionally they'd work very well and no screws necessary. The extra cost in timber is insignificant if jointing solid planks together to make a sheet manually - it only matters if working from standardised sheet material where a design has been tightly optimised to fit the sheet with absolute minimal wastage. Sensible timber choice and splitting shouldn't be an issue, especially when you've got a protective finish on. Plenty of 100+ year old furniture without splits.

Set of rack mount bars for a GK RB amp. I haven’t owned a GK amp for several years but they would have come off of either a 1001RB II or a 700RB III as I owned both. The bars are complete with all parts including screws. No trades thanks. Price includes shipping to locations within the UK. I took the photos myself and I am blind, so my apologies if they look like they were taken by a drunk person.

These are the style I use: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006313624829.html They don't come out that easily so no need to glue anything, they stick out about 3mm. This has been in place for about 4-5 years now:
