  6. What a lovely story.
  7. Well, not so much the dwarf, as mentioned I do have one of those, but I have a tonex one, and am wondering if a ToneX would be something I could use - seems quite a flexible device, still not sure. There was so much to look at there! As to the etch-a-sketch, that was magnetic paper, shows the magnetic fields on various pickups, so I was looking at what was under the plastic / metal of the pickups. Was going to put them here, but will post under a different thread for that!
  8. If you are getting noticeable signal loss due to your leads, then you need some better ones. And as I said in a previous post if the EQ centres on this are more suitable for your sound than those on your amp, then you have the wrong amp.
  9. Insomnia - Faithless
  10. This reminds me of a local double bass player whose licence was revoked this year due to dementia. A friend bought him a Yamaha silent bass so he can more easily get a lift and still do gigs.

  12. Is it? Please explain how. Unless the pre-amp has been badly designed the gain control should be the first thing the input signal passes through. Whether you boost the signal before or after the input jack socket should make zero difference. And stop assuming that passive basses have a lower output than actives. This is not 100% true.
  13. @rwillett - I'll be in touch about some pedalboard bits too once I've had a good think and measure. I thought it looked like a good system on your thread here but in person it looks even better! And that bit of chipboard on legs in the flight case that is my pedalboard is on borrowed time 😅 I was also wondering about integrating a power socket - something like the link below. Maybe a panel I can mount it to between the top two rails? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D7C7M4VJ/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0 Or raise up the back of the board and have a whole patchbay lurking at the back? A bit like the Warwick Rockbaord patch bays. https://www.thomann.co.uk/rockboard_mod_1_v2_trs_xlr_patchbay.htm I'll have a think...
  14. If you need this because it has better EQ centres than the tone controls on your amp then you have the wrong amp.
  15. Definitely the busiest bash I've been to! Always nice to meet other players, many of them coming from very different places in terms of the music they pay and/or the kit they favour. Of particular note - @Wolverinebass and his amazing John Entwistle-style bass; @MichaelDean and the passive tone mod on his Dingwall NG2 - why didn't I think of that! Can I also add my thanks to @scrumpymike and all those who assisted in making the day such a great experience.
  16. I gave up playing for the best part of 10 years. Was the best thing I ever did. I took up loads of other hobbies and then came back to it again when I wanted to.
  17. this could be the greatest thread of all time
  18. @Phil Starr can I ask what was speaker #1 ?
  19. At the moment, I've decided to keep my Leduc basses (2 of them where custom orders) and the Le Fay Remington Steele, so that means that only the BassLab L-Bow V and the Shuker necked fretless Jazz Bass will go alongside an EBS-1 V2 preamp and loads of accessories (I need to check again).
  20. Noll with volume (push/pull for active/passive), balance, tone, bass, mid, treble yes it comes with new gig bag
  21. Hello, 18.5mm and 34 scale.
  22. 34👍🏽
  23. Any decent luthier would be ashamed to send that out as a representation of their work. That they did is a red flag.
  24. Grant Green Ain't It Funky Now yes it is indeed
  25. I remember seeing a lefty Carl Thompson in a second hand shop in 88/89 for £600......
  26. Good, good. BTW, are you gonna keep a bass? For that noodle? (Me, I have only one bass right now, and am happy to have it available.)
