  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah Ive had one or 2 in stock over the last year or so, they sell well and are pretty well spec'd for the money too
  3. Its so cool and looks unbelievable, it seems such a shame to keep it as an ornament, deserves to be played.
  4. Clog Dance - Violinski
  5. Outstanding relic work, I absolutely love that.
  6. Brown Shoes Don't Make It - The Mothers -
  7. I don’t normally like relic’d instruments………..but that looks very appealing. GLWTS.
  8. It will fit on seat, just unable to fit my bass on top of the speaker without completely blocking the view on the passenger side window. Cheers for your help!
  9. I’d run Cali - DCX - Stomp then, get a sol underneath a nano and drop the JDI on the floor for ampless gigs. Keep the tuner if you can fit it. Simple and then the rest, sell it 🤷‍♂️, put it all on a nano+ for fun 🤷‍♂️ whatever suits
  10. Bought very recently on the forum, gigged on Sunday (pic attached) and its just too heavy for my neck/back - had significant discomfort after the gig even though its only about 9 pounds. My other basses are sub 8 pounds and that is what I will have to stick to going forward as my neck condition is not going to improve. Robert's ad below sets out the details - its one of the first Japanese runs from 2001 with real blocks etc and with some upgrades (eg noiseless pickups). The negatives for full disclosure are that the Hipshot A tuner has a bit of play (it holds tune and works but the first bit of a turn does nothing; worked fine for me at gig but can be replaced at about £30 if it bothers you) and it was routed for a battery pack at the rear (at one stage it had a John East preamp, its now all passive again), not that anyone would ever see this. I have swapped out white scratchplate (which I still have) for a black one, so you have the choice. What else? Wearing new DR Pure Blues 40-100 nickel rounds and comes with 90s style Fender hard case. Usual gen from me - delivery by economy courier for £20 on top or collect in safe public space near me in Barnes, London SW13 (usually Barnes station car park). Passing on at the price I paid which is a bargain FS ad on BassChat:

  11. Mizzle

    Pedalboard woes.

Using a Genz Benz Streamliner and Barefaced Compact for 95% of the time. Odd occasion we might do gigs where we are going through a proper PA so a DI would be useful (do have the JDI). I do like both the stomp and the Origin Effects stuff, perhaps I could as above change it up for the smaller one and use the stomp with bigger one, and take for example the comp off as it's not really needed. The smaller board I'm wondering if I've got enough power with only the expander 4 (guess depends what I put on it).
  12. Mine all get used. The selection comes down to the type of music being played as the usual reason for final selection. If unknown in advance, then a P bass comes along.
  13. This is a great little bit of kit, I have the Apogee Duet too and I can't justify owning two interfaces. Discontinued now, but it works without issue on both my elderly Macbook Pro and my newer M1 Air running iOs 14 (with a USB-C adaptor). Takes a 1/4 inch bass/gtr or an xlr input as well as the built-in mic, so it's ideal for recording - I've used it for online teaching as it's a great way of easily getting my voice and bass into Zoom. A fair few scratches on it and the plastic on the channel indicator has a couple of small cracks, but I've just plugged it in and everything works as it should. £60 securely packed and tracked to mainland UK addresses.
  14. One of my favourite flyrigs. I just don’t use it. Basically a boost, big muff, ampeg amp sim and a Boss OC2 clone. It’s the same octave circuit as the Sonicake Octaver and Valeton OC10 which if you’ve seen my octaver comparisons nail that OC2 tone. DI out and fx loop, honestly if it had a tuner it would be perfect. But it doesn’t and I cover most of my gigs with the Darkglass Element
  15. Some more pics
  16. Nice groove and feel going on there. Thanks for sharing.
  17. All these should have been recalled IMO, they cost far too much money to be looking like a ratty old rehearsal room cab after a short while. Some of them were an absolute state.
  18. Oh gawwwwwwd. I need to go and have a lie down. Someone please buy this so I don't have to explain the purchase to my wife.
  19. I've recently cut back on gigs and moved all of my teaching to Zoom, so having two amps seems excessive... Aguilar Tone Hammer TH500 head, owned by me since roughly 2014 and gigged numerous times, but treated well. It's never played 'Love Shack'. Some light scratches on the top surface that are hard to photograph, and some glue marks on the bottom where I did a shoddy job of sticking on some rubber feet so it didn't rest on the handle of my cabinet. Happy to remove PAT stickers if necessary. £450 securely packed and tracked to mainland UK addresses, will obviously knock some money off if you're within driving distance of TW20 and want to collect.
  20. So obviously this is a hugely long thread so I’ve not been able to check if someone is already doing this. But basically I had a really bad gig the other day (fine out front and performance etc) but my IEM mix was awful, so it just ruins my enjoyment. I was using my new Cosmic Ears C8A’s and the isolation is absolute. So add in the PA only had the acoustic guitar, vocals and bass in it. My sound was lacking to say the least. I’ve always had to hack an IEM mix and my current pedalboard is built around a Behringer P2 (Tried a Passive Rockboard option and I need the boost of an active circuit) doing XLR/Jack conversion and Stereo/Mono conversion (so I can take any type of feed basically) into the aux in on a Darkglass Element. So this gives me a blend between bass and feed. Works really well, was on tour in March/April and it was some of the best sound I’ve ever had. But at the time I didn’t have my moulded IEMS and the band was going through the PA. Anyway, I’d thought for ages about like an ambient pack or something. I know a few options exist but they only work with specific IEMs or are quite expensive. Then I saw a content creator recommend these, they were recording guitar and vocals at the same time. https://rode.com/en/products/wirelesspro And it dawned on me I could use the receiver as a wireless IEM pack. Run out of the element headphone into the 3.5mm in on one of the transmitters and stick the other transmitter somewhere central on the stage/on the singer/ or even wear it myself. This would allow me to blend in whats going on on stage, whats in the PA and my bass. Same setup could be used for just running out of the headphone out on the mixer into one of these wireless transmitters blah blah. So it gives me a versatile way to hack a feed which just seems to be all I can ever do. Can also click a button and record everything going through them which is an added bonus. Other than that I think I’ll have to practice and get better gigs, but who wants to do that 🤮 So anyone doing this? Any issues anyone can see (except latency, I imagine it’s the same as any digital wireless system), blowing the mics out of the transmitters first snare hit?
  21. I own 2 Barefaced 210s but mainly only ever use one. I spoke to Alex originally as I wanted a big driver cab (my previous rig was a Ashdown MAG 210 combo with MAG 115 extension cab and preferred the 15). However, he talked me into the 210s (they were a new model at the time with his talk of extra excursion in the drivers and the way he did his ports. I was sceptical at first, but I have never experienced any issues with low Bs on any of my guitars at any volumes, and I can get pretty loud (occasionally). The pair of the cabs set up like a 410 is immense, but I rarely play gigs that warrant the need for a 2nd cab. Having said that, I have no idea if it would fit in an MX5 boot, but I would hope so. My brother has a mk1, but it is buried in storage at the mo, so can't try it for you (plus I'm down south and he's near Newcastle).
  22. For a rough pub gig / tight space, I'd probably use either a Precision or one of three Jazz basses that I have. I'd likely leave the Ric at home though. Had a 60's Hofner 500/1 for a while, but always felt like it was too fragile to gig. That one's long gone.
  23. True, one of my big problems with gigging in general is it relies on other people. And we all know drummers tend to be the clumsy ones. I took best instrument to mean most expensive, at least for me they’re the same thing. Mine is an Overwater fretless J4.
  24. Hi @broken_strings - maybe you should have listed it as a "heavy relic" - then you might have doubled your asking price To be honest, at one point I almost gave in and ripped the Tolex off mine too (see earlier post about peel and my addiction to it). I was just lucky that I live fairly near BF, so was able to take them back to Alex to get them fixed.
