I think if you don't look at least a little bit ridiculous on stage then you're doing it entirely wrong! Preferably more than just a little too... -

I've got a vintera precision, about six months old.my problem is the d string buzzes on the lower frets.to stop it I have to add really high relief, but the frets choke out on the highest frets.its also digustingly crap to play.if I set relief to .30mm at the eighth fret and action at 5/64ths on E at the 17th fret,it plays beautifully everywhere except for the D at the low frets.ive since levelled the frets and it's still doing it.ive tried three different sets of strings,la bella ,ghs precision and fender flats.im at a loss.any ideas?

Hmm. It may not be the basses fault in my case either… -

I just remembered i still have a couple of Zoom multi FX. I guess i might give those a go. I can then program in a volume change.

In 5/4..?

Something with a walking bass-line..?

Yeah, just a bit lol.

Thanks. Ive had the Source Audio stuff in the past but never really gelled with them. Too many options, and quite expensive.

It's odd how my Kelly is one of the biggest basses you'll ever see, and is actually surprisingly very light. My Yamaha BB feels heavier! And comparatively that Jackson bird looks like a smaller body but weighs a ton. Is it made of mahogany?

We were recording our album and I was tracking. Went for a take, and silence. Checked lead to pedal, checked pedal, checked lead coming out of pedal. Engineer started making checks his end. Turned out I'd turned down the volume knob on my bass.
-
Or Source Audio Lunar (or Mercury or Gemini), though volume control is only via the app when creating presets, which is a bit frustrating.

OLP Tony Levin - truss rod adjuster replacement?
Mediocre Polymath replied to tauzero's topic in Repairs and Technical
I looked in my parts bin, as for some reason I kept the truss rod when I binned the neck from my old OLP MM2, but sadly I think I decided "what possible use could anyone have for an old OLP truss rod" and threw it away a few months ago. That said, I remember the spoke wheel being welded on, so perhaps it was a different design. If the adaptor doesn't fit, you can always try pulling the truss rod out and replacing it. They're double action rods in a straight rectangular channel – you can generally pull the out if there's no tension on them. -
Behringer BM13 but it’s enormous.

Excuse the non bass anecdote, but it was an embarrassing rookie error. (and excuse the name drop...) While still a studio assistant early '80s, I had to run a session for Heaven 17 who were recording some demos. The engineer who I mainly worked with had a line in cheeky phrases that he could get away with and would always get a laugh. So we ran through a lead vocal with Glen Gregory. No issues, all fine. However, I thought I'd try a cheeky remark, you know, as you do when you think you're above your station. "that was great Glen, thanks. If you'd lke to leave your name and number in the bin on the way out" It didn't really go down as well as expected! I was rather embarrassed, but had to balls it out.

Haven't done one of these for a year (or two?), I'd love to give this a go if I can find the time.
