  5. Hi, I wondered if anyone could confirm the wood that my bow is made from. I don't think it is brazilwood as it is too light weight, is it pernambuco or is it something else? Thank you in advance! Steve

  8. Pictures or it didn't happen!
  9. Ditch the tort-ure scratchplate? Seriously though if my credit cards weren't giving me daily manxiety i would snatch you arm off, it's a stunning bass.
  10. One final bit of lateral thinking for accessing tap-tempo via MIDI. If the delay time can be synchronised to MIDI clock or MTC then it might be possible to use a device that can transmit MIDI clock or MTC, that has its own tap tempo footswitch, to use the MIDI timing information to control the delay time on the X32.
  11. In this video you can see him playing a Yamaha. He also seems to be playing with a variation on the Jamerson hook. I think this is the only video of him playing bass, I'm wondering if he learnt partially from sitting in sessions with Joe Sample where he would have seen Jamerson and maybe he picked it up from him? Look closely at his fingers at 3:54. Video here
  12. Indeed my '63 Precision does sound wonderful through my Ampeg!
  13. There's some great stuff in here, but I get what you mean about the mix, it's tilted towards the treble too much, ensnare and cymbals, and the bass is somewhat missing. I know what it's like hammering it to get it done to the deadline and losing some perspective along the way. Your stuff usually sounds amazingly well produced! Still voted for it all the same!
  14. That's a gorgeous bass!! I'd happily swap necks with my Candian PJ 🙂

  16. Here I am selling a medium scale (32") acoustic bass by Aria. Its a tasteful beast with a stained open pore style finish with bronze stained binding (compliments the bronze string) Comes with an onboard pre amp and tuner, so literally a plug and play situation. In as new condition. I love acoustic bass, but never seem to have time to setlle with them as my gigging schedule is busy. so pretty much unplayed and no fretboard wear. Not convinced shipping is a good idea. I have a box by not convinced the postal services would handle it very well.. Happy to discuss, or meet up (home counties) or pickup (free coffee! and nosey labrador).
  17. If none of the above works, if the X32 supports memory dump via MIDI, then it may be possible to activate these functions using MIDI System Exclusive messages. This will involve a deep dive into understanding Sysex messages, and even if it is possible you may struggle to find a budget footswitch capable of transmitting them.
  18. I've had these a while, using them in various amps with valve preamp stages, but my move away from such amps means they are now surplus: Mullard ECC83 - code B6B3 means made in Blackburn, third week of February in either 1956, 1966 or 1976 = £50 Mullard ECC83 - (code backward3)91 means made in Chelmsford for Mullard by Marconi, but not sure how to date the rest = £50 Mullard ECC81 - no code that I can see = £25 Caveat Emptor: I have tested them in my Demeter amp and they are all working fine at time of writing, but as always with old valves be aware they can fail at any time. Please do bear that in mind before you buy.

  19. This amp is now £400 on Amazon. Incredible. I will drop the price for the amp, adapter, pedalboard and case to £500, which is still a good deal I think, but I really cannot go any lower. If it doesn't sell at this price I will just keep it as a spare.
  20. Can we go back to the first statement in the thread. Please justify four basses to yourself otherwise many of us are in deep trouble…..
  21. Official weight is 8-9kg. It's a easy two finger lift.

  23. Based on that here are the relevant sections: MIDI RX> ASSIGN Whenever assignable controls are set up for transmitting MIDI commands, reception of that same command (status or continuous) will be reflected on the respective assignable control element (button light, encoder LED collar). That means the control assignments for transmit and receive are the same per function. Unfortunately the next section says: MIDI TX > ASSIGN We restricted the user assignable MIDI commands to some generic elements, in order to keep things simple enough. You'll need to look at the relevant MIDI TX ASSIGN screens on the X32 to see if want you want to do is achievable. It may be possible to use suggestion #1 from my previous post to see if activating the relevant functions from the X32 interface produces a MIDI message on the MIDI out. However if it is possible to assign MIDI control to functions that are not in the factory default set, a lack of MIDI output may not be an indication that what you want to do is impossible. Unfortunately in the the absence of comprehensive MIDI documentation (what Dad3353 supplied whilst being somewhat useful is not a proper MIDI implementation chart) any further progress is going involve the OP doing some serious menu diving and a lot of trial and error.
  24. La Bella Deep Talkin’ Bass flats 760FS-TB. These are the ones specifically for through-body stringing. Cut for a Precision bass. Very light use at home; just trying them out really. Didn’t really suit the bass so off we go again. £30 including UK postage. Feedback thread here:
