For sale is my TC Electronic GMajor-2 multi effects unit in fully working condition and updated to the latest firmware. Pictures show it in its usual rack home (rack not included). Although most of the standard effects are aimed at the guitarist I have found the compressor, gate, flanger, phaser and octaver (up and down) etc. to be very useable for bass. I can either factory reset before shipping or leave the presets I have created intalled. It has built in EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverbs, delays, wahs, octaver, tremolo, phaser, flanger etc each of which can be switched in / out from the front panel as required. I have been using this via my amps effects loop and found the compressor (and all the effects) just add their effect without changing the fundamental sound of the bass. Comes with original box and operating manual. You can use the unit in your DAW as well as with your bass / guitar etc. Patches can be easily selected from the front panel or attach a midi-pedal (I used a MidiMoose). There is also some Vyzor software you can download from the net which allows you to interface your PC with the GMajor-2 to edit and backup your user patches. I have also attached the GMajor-2 and Vyzor manuals below. tc_electronic_g-major_2_manual_english.pdfVyzor_G-Major2_Quick-Start.pdf I estimate UK shipping about £10 to £15.

1 rack unit is gone so the only one left is the lower one in the photos. For sale is my used but not abused EMS 500 19" rack case. The rack is currently assembled as 6U but can be reconfigured as 3U, 6U simply by removing some bolts and panels - 10 min job! You can also configure it so the top removes for mixers. The rack is currently assembled to a board with castors which isn't included in the sale and will be removed before shipping.........unless you really, really want it and then it would be an extra £20 and whatever the increased postage is. These are quite special cases as they are modular construction where you can increase or decrease the number of rack spaces by easily adding or removing side and end panels. All you need is an allen key! You can also use them with a mixer installed in the top and the top panel can be easily removed! See the photo of how I had the units set up for my band PA. (None of the rack equipment is included.) All catches etc are in good condition. Rack to rack depth is 48cm. Weight per 6U assembly is 18lbs / 8.2kg. See the attached brochure for more details. The 6U Gator version of this case weighs 13lbs so slightly lighter but is NOT as rigid, road resilient or has the flexiblity options. As these are modular I would propose they are dismantled and flat packed for shipping to reduce the cost. I'll give details on how to re-assemble if you need but its quite straight forward. I've estimated UK postage to be £15 per unit. 6U Rack Unit 2 - the lower 6U rack unit in the photos on its own - £90 / Board with castors - £20 / Both together £100. Shipping Extra EMS.pdf

My only suggestion would be a search on-line to find what you are looking for. I entered 'bass combos' into my Safari task bar and got a few hits but they are all over on this side of the pond. 😄

I've no idea what 'Taranis' means but apparently this was a bass designed for metal. Not that I used it for that and it sounded great for the more mellow stuff i've been using it for of late, very woody! EDIT Just found that Taranis is a Celtic god of thunder. The four string variant was tuned BEAD.

I was from Liverpool but left the UK in early 1973 for our new life in Toronto. There used to be some great music shops in Manchester that I would visit. I'm sorry that things have changed so much.

I’ve been in the same situation as you, as have loads of other bass player/singers. The above reinforcement of the need for practice with the band is key. What also worked for me was to not overthink it. In some cases I simplified the bass line and learned the pairing (singing and playing) as a single entity, not as two separate parts stuck together. I did get tripped up, however, when I did a dep gig using sheet music and then singing was really limited to just oohs and arrhs. I found that a really difficult gig. practice, practice, practice!…….you’ll get there.

That’s terrible, so sorry. Laurence will do a good job on it.

Just like when you first started playing bass, keep it simple. Find a song you like, prefereably with just "on the beat" root notes. Learn to sing the tune seperately and then little by little bring them together. Work on this at home where there is no pressure to get it right first time. At home also means you'll be able to hear yourself better and concentrate more. Once you get more comfortable with singing the tune along with playing you can add in dynamics and singing at volume. Pick another tune and repeat the process.........👍

would be great to visit a music store but sadly Manchester is not the best place to be so it would mean a decent drive to somewhere like Bass Direct, hence this post!

For sale in very good used condition my 1000watt neo 4x8 cab. It's weighs in at around 22kg single hand lift and carry (if not too far)! Super punchy cab and seems to naturally sit in the mix easier than many cabs I've used. The only flaw is the speakon input isn't working but both jack sockets are. Its 8 ohm so can be coupled with a 15 for a lovely full range sound. I have used it with my ashdown 2x10 combo which made a great rig. Hartke amp is for size ref only although is for sale separately (deal to be done)?? Postage is possible if sorted by the buyer. Robust packaging assured. Cheers

BassmanPaul started following Very small combos

I have no experience of Phil Jones amplifiers but as an engineer I have always distrusted them for the reasons Bill has mentioned. There are so many combos out there that I feel would work better for you. May I humbly suggest trips to music stores and try out as many combos as you can. Remember that bass and small really don't go together that well! LOL

Re-gluing that bit that the tailpiece wires rest on
The Guitar Weasel replied to Owen's topic in EUB and Double Bass
It's called the 'saddle' ... okay ... clean off all that PVA 'polar bear snot' with warm water and and a cloth ... blurgggggghh = Never get that stuff near a double bass on pain of .... well let's leave it at serious pain. Isopropyl alcohol will got off any that hot water won't ... then let the area dry thoroughly. Now go and buy some proper glue if you must use a 'chemical' glue use Titebond SPARINGLY Better is Titebond liquid hide glue You don't need much clamping with hide glue ... probably even get away with taping it down while the glue cures ... the forces once everything is back together will tend to keep the saddle in place even if the glue joint isn't the strongest. Now go get the person who did that gluing job to write out 100 times on a blackboard ... or an interactive whiteboard as you are at a college I MUST NOT USE PVA ON MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS -

Based on the trailer, I'm not holding out much hope. The celeb cameos feel like a portent of doom to me. I'm not sure that ever works, does it? I really do hope it turns out to be decent.

rwillett started following Modular, pine shelving - Circa 8-10ft in length and upto 4ft high

This is a very nice, modular pine shelving system. We brought it go around an corner in our attic room but is no longer needed. Its very, very sturdy and has any number of different ways it can be put together. There are various heights, various lengths and various widths of shelves. Surprisingly it has all the bits apart from whatever screws you need to attach it to the wall. The wire bits hold the shelves up, which is so much better than a little button. We had it with heavy books on it and it's as straight as the day it came to us. From memory it cost aground £5-600 for all the bits as they a massive step up in quality from IKEA Collection from near Settle in North Yorkshire. Free to anybody who wants them, they will probably fit in a medium sized estate/saloon. Needs to go quickly though Thanks Rob

They don't spray on the lower part, sure, but they do on the upper part, so you can see there's still a bit of red under the pickguard on the upper section, but its faded where exposed to the light. -
I would monitor the operation of the internal fan and carry on using it. Using a distortion pedal will cause the amplifier to run closer to its limits. There should be enough protection against overheating built into the unit - hopefully!
