  2. Back in the land of the 02R, this Waves Y56K / ADAT card arrived safely from Japan this morning.. Thankfully I encountered no issues during installation and chose to make various Renaissance EQ and Compressor strings as stereo sub-group inserts. Gig and recording ready.. 👍 I've had good service out of these cards as there's one in both DM2000s, too. As I've probably mentioned previously, the sounds of the plugins are a little different - arguably, they have a little more character than the stock Yamaha ones. Both the 02R96 and especially the DM2Ks have more than enough processing to do pretty much every job that comes my way but the extra bells and whistles afforded by the Waves card is very welcome. 🥰
  3. Honestly I couldn't point to one Maroon 5 song, I just noticed in the list of most albums sold, they were above rod stewart (and fleetwood mac - colour me surprised).
  4. What varies is the electronics of these early models. This one has the original Japanese electronics. Is it of worse quality? Hehe, I think the Japanese electronics are just as good as the others. Even much better.
  5. When people say it's a lower-value bass because it's made in Japan, I find it ridiculous. It's superior to some US-made models, and the quality of the woods is identical to the woods used in the basses in Ken's shop.
  6. They never used to bother me but I always avoided the Pyramid stage which is located in front of a hill so they probably are more of a distraction there.
  7. It's a great bass. What Ken Smith did 35 years ago strikes me as very interesting: sending the wood to Japan and overseeing the construction of this model. He did it with the same meticulousness as in his workshop. All by hand and by a single person he completely trusts.
  8. Maybe usable with other similar guitars? Unused so in mint condition. Postage possible…
  9. All unused, top quality sets. Double ball ends but possibly can be used for shorter basses. 37” length. (I could use the outer strings on my standard scale bass but would rather sell as sets). * Newtone 5 string sets x 6: Diamond Bass, hex core, stainless steel, 46-130, length 37” (ball end to ball end) with tapered B. £25 each (discount for multi purchase) ( I also have a Hot Wires 5 string flat wound set…pm me)
  10. Have no idea.🤷🏽‍♂️ Not really prepared to mess with anything. A quick clean sale is preferable….
  11. Updated pics to show: *Swapped the castors/wheels to slightly bigger but much better quality set. Easier to move without trolley. * Resprayed spk ‘mount’ face (from white to black) using high quality/tough product as the white paint was flaking a bit. This has improved the look and protection. Loaned recently a fellow bass player (who was in a spot) and he raved about the quality of this combo. Actually said it had ‘better’ tonal options than his beloved Mark bass separates🤫🤐🤷🏾‍♂️😎 Shamelessly bumped for more views…
  12. One of my favourite flyrigs. I just don’t use it. Basically a boost, big muff, ampeg amp sim and a Boss OC2 clone. It’s the same octave circuit as the Sonicake Octaver and Valeton OC10 which if you’ve seen my octaver comparisons nail that OC2 tone. DI out and fx loop, honestly if it had a tuner it would be perfect. But it doesn’t and I cover most of my gigs with the Darkglass Element

  14. These are the bomb. I use mine with a Spector with EMGs (proper ones, not the X versions) and the HAZ clone pre, through GK amps and I kid you not, even punters tell me my bass sounds good.
  15. Layout pretty much complete. I was going to stagger the 6L6 positions but I went back to Morgan Jones's 'Building Valve Amplifiers' and he says that (1) you can get away with mounting power valves closer together as long as they are not showing each other the wide faces of their plates, (2) mounting valves in the middle of a chassis limits convection cooling. Consequently I now have the 6L6s lined up just inside the rear chassis edge, oriented so that they each see the thin edge of their neighbours' plates. I plan to have a tag strip running parallel to the row to terminate the 1ohm 1% bias sense resistors, and possibly some other stuff. I've also marked up the hole positions on the bias board - each side of the output transformer will have its own bias pot. There's likely to be a couple of weeks' break now for holidays and stuff, so bear with me.
  16. You are 100% correct but this particular band wants a self contained unit, added to which my CQ is a 12... which is tight for channels.
  17. Suuuuuper annoying when they're in front of the stage. If you're up the hill on Pyramid, you can't see anything happening on stage. Conversely, they're also super helpful when trying to find crowd as a landmark.
  18. Which model as there can be a huge difference? The Brian Bromberg signature was and still is excellent.
  19. Sure thing. I thought you also had a A&H CQ12, but I might have got that wrong? And was thinking that you would have an easy option using that.
  20. Please don't bring Maroon 5 in to this. They really are the absolute worst. I'd honestly rather listen to Imagine Dragons or Kid Rock and I'd rather eat a fresh dog egg than listen to either of them.
  21. Wah Wah - George Harrison
  22. I don't have Facebook so can't access that link. I suspect it's a Korean made 5 String Conklin Groove Tools? Guessing it's this one thats for sale for £550 on The Fretboard.
  23. Finally managed to salvage a video from our gig on June 22nd. There's a minor glitch in it, but not as many as there are in the other videos from the day!
