  2. For sale my Ashdown ABM 400 head with ABM 4x10 cab and flightcase for the cab. They've seen a fair bit of touring, I think/hope i've priced it fairly considering that. They still sound fantastic! These were built from what I think is the first ABM range by Ashdown. Built in the UK and I think in the early 90's. I've had the head and cab since around 2009 and bought the flightcase for the cab around 2014. They've seen a fair bit of action over the years but haven't really let me down. The tolex on the head and cab are looking pretty tatty in places and some of the knobs on the head have come off over the years and had to be replaced. Some of that patches on the tolex are from stickers and tags to identify them as mine backstage etc. The flightcase has a couple of spots of rust but is other wise in great nick and the wheels and brakes work well. Internal dimensions for the flightcase are W615, D425, H675. Custom built by the Flightcase Warehouse UK. Selling as they had been sat in a rehearsal room for a while but my band are no longer renting that space and I don't have room at home. Collection or meet up only.
  3. Do you know who's voice it is? At the time - the seventies - we had a surge of new and exciting scifi on TV and in the cinema. The clip I referenced above reminded me very much of the cantina scene from Star Wars' first release. I don't know quite why. I mean... they sound nothing like each other to me now. Somehow your album evoked that vibe and my imagination did the rest. The cover art also gave off a strong vibe. I had been choosing scifi paperbacks because they tended to have evocative artwork like on the sleeve of V2035. I picked the album out of the rack because I thought it had an image of an overhead UAP (UFO for us older folk) landing at speed. The LP's content did not disappoint even though I had heard nothing like it before. It wasn't until I'd played it for the nth time that I realised the cover image was an artistic view of a phonograph tone arm touching down on an LP as seen from the LP's POV. It certainly sold your work for you in my case.
  4. ***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  5. My best purchase was most definitely the SushBoxFX Neptunium (Noble DI clone in a small pedal). It's the pedal on the far left of the board. The 12ax7 tube adds so much to the tone. The board is currently configured for a passive p-bass. The Neptunium combined with the 12ax7 tube-based Slampegg Bee Pre (Ampeg b15-based preamp) is bloody brilliant.
  6. No probs here and they stock stuff you can’t buy in the UK. They are not the cheapest for everything but normally very competitive.
  7. Here's our well-deserved Round of Applause...
  8. Whereabouts in your signal chain do you put it?
  9. The newest pedal on my board is the Empress Bass ParaEQ (the purple pedal):
  10. That works well if the drummer looks at you. I asked a dep why he was fixated on the singer and he said ‘Cos he pays me’
  11. Spondonbassed....how could I download this audio, I can't find a way of doing it off this clip?
  12. Gear heads anodise a lot of bolt on goodies to their 'bikes and cars. As colour finishes go, anodising stands out without making ally parts look less metallic and more plastic-y.
  13. So glad to hear it went well
  14. Tried to add a video, technology baffles me... 😂 1757334673869.3gp
  15. If we get a dep drummer into my own band from time to time, we tend to streamline the set to focus on stuff that’s easy to get thru with me cueing him for any unusual stops / starts etc. If it’s just the occasional gig with someone stepping in to help us out, it’s probably not the time to debut some horribly complicated track. As ever, good onstage communication is a wonderful thing.
  16. I got mine from aliexpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009447489097.html
  17. Up for sale is my Novation Bass Station 2 Synthesizer. In excellent condition, and comes with the original USB cable for connecting to the computer/powering it and a couple of preset packs. £250 collected from Ickenham, or can meet in London. Postage to be added on top and paid for by the buyer.
  18. Got this through the post on Saturday - wow! Very impressed with it so far, really adds a little bit of magic to your tone - I had the mk1 a while ago but this is a pretty big upgrade on that - highly recommended
  19. Famous last words. . . .
  20. this knob puller you speak of... where do i find such an item 😍
  21. Only a couple? I'm impressed. I do that after playing for about 50 years!!
  22. As said already a Tapered B string of the correct gauge (I used 135’s) worked great in making a B that sounded a bit flabby sound a whole lot better. I have a 35” Lakland jazz and the B is fantastic, and a 34.25” Mayones Jabba which again has a great B so I’m not sure scale length alone is everything, but I’ve had several Fender V’s and the B string has never really been “good” on any of them - tapered B string definitely fixed it somewhat, but I generally swerve Fender 5’s - they make fantastic passive 4 string basses, so they’re all I really look at from them now (unless I can play it first)
  23. my last two purchases from them. 1, ordered something, should of been next day delivery, i waited nearly two weeks only to be told they were still waiting for an overdue stock to come in, so they were taking orders of stock they never had. i got a refund and closed my account. that was about 2 years ago. 2, last week i had to go back to them, and ordered a pair of beyer dt770 and a pair of superlux hd660. the beyers were fine as they came in a sealed tab box The superlux though, they sent me a B stock pair with the box torn, inside the box was untidy like it had all been just chucked back in and obvious signs of ware ! they refunded the superlux right away. so, lost faith. thought id try again. and now lost faith for the last time.
