  1. Past hour
  2. I was very tempted for the Monza the first time I played it as well @Chienmortbb. I was loathe to upgrade my amp power though, and my Silverstone was plenty good enough for me. And I’m tight with money, lol. But the Goodwood is wonderful.
  3. I see depping for bands the same way as I see my graphic design day job. I am there to serve my client. If I think that they are VERY wrong I will politely suggest an alternative. Once. If my client chooses to ignore that advice I will produce them exactly what they want without further comment, take their money at the end and thank them for it, and ask what other projects they have for me. I won't have a man about it, because it's not worth the effort. I might even ha
  4. Thanks for all the replies. Here's a bit more info and some photos.... The problem does not occur when volume knob is turned to 0%, or when the battery is removed. It does still occur when the battery is plugged in but the active/passive switch is set to passive. (This means at least I have a workaround as I can just roll of the volume between songs to activate switches.... but that's not really helpful in the middle of a song!)
  5. Have you thought about a two channel amp with independent EQ? Most of these have a footswitch control for channel switching.
  6. In the end it's what works for you, but personally I would never entertain the idea of non-programmable pedals for live use again. You should be able to do what you need with what you already have provided you are prepared to put in the effort creating and organising the presets and then having a couple of technical rehearsals with the band to fine tune them. It will also depend on how complex the EQ changes need to be. Most of the bands I have played with have required fine tuning of the EQ for every song in order to get the bass to fit into the right sonic space created by the other instruments also changing sounds for each song. And that doesn't cover any mid-song EQ changes required for when the bass needs to be more or less prominent. Without programmable EQ I wouldn't be able to do any of this.
  7. I hope not. By and large they make great basses, but their distribution has been patchy in Europe.
  8. Not a way to get ahead with depping... 😁
  9. Great basses for reasonable money back in the day. Prices are creeping up now and there are many butchered ones out there. I was lucky enough to find an unmolested Stingray 4 SUB in black not so long ago.
  10. If you don't want to play songs that you don't like write your own.

  12. Please buy me! (That's the pedals talking. They're sad, lonely and unloved.)
  13. Does it just have a two-band EQ? Personally, I prefer not having a mid - just works better for me.
  14. Still here. I could do with the cash!
  15. I have a couple of songs that need quick EQ change to go from punky stuff to dub/reggae. At the moment I'm using a multi-fx (Boss GX-10) with presets and that probably is the simplest option, but my eye has been wondering towards a few individual pedals lately (synth and filters) so might be on the path back to a pedalboard - I could incorporate the GX-10 but it the whole thing starts getting a bit big and complex. Any suggestions? Multiple EQ pedals? e.g. nothing too fancy needed, a couple relatively small/cheap graphic EQ pedals with one set to dub EQ, the other with mid/high boost..... a switcher pedal would be used for it to be a single click between them and to also add turn on distortion to the punky stuff (I already have a Bright Onion loop switcher). An EQ pedal with presets. Not many of these around though, the Source Audio EQ2 looks like the one to get - but at £280 new it isn't far off decent small multi-fx costs and is more than getting a couple of GEB-7 type EQs. I feel doing 'long press' footswitch or button press stuff won't really work live where I need to switch instantly or perhaps adds a bit of complexity/room for error. Multi-fx for different EQ presets and add the individual pedals I want (e.g. synth and envelope filter). this might mean changing the GX-10 for something more pedalboard friendly though (back to the GT-1000 for about the 3rd time?!). ....Or get quick at knob twiddling on the amp!
  16. I'm in a ska & reggae band, there's nine of us and we're all white. I'm saying nothing. 🤐
  17. Well you don`t see many of that range up for sale, which is a pretty good indicator of how good they are. Congrats on a good bass, in the best colour scheme.
  18. I stripped the whole neck and left a curve for the headstock transition and it looked OKish. I saw another owner’s attempt, where the black started as a point behind the nut and flared out to the full black headstock, which looked much better. I think stripping the back of headstock would have been the best solution. Mine was beast, weight-wise, but marvellously balanced.
  19. Steven Seagal is a very tough man, so he can do what he wants!
  20. Usual rule of thumb is to go a gauge lighter than your preferred rounds. I felt the same with Dunlop flats, couldn't get them to work for me too much top end and not enough mid/body, tried GHS flats, they were too far the other way so I settled on La Bella, though I prefer the two heaviest sets to use on P basses (760FM 109-49 and 760M 110-52)
  21. If you have the original Silverstone, I had one too and in many places had to dial down the low end. This is more the fault of the rooms than the cabinet. I have since gone Monaco then, owing to increasing age and puniness, on to the Monza. One of the things I know about @stevie at LFSys is that he goes through many iterations of drivers, cabinet designs and horns to ensure the best result he can within the design parameters. Many well respected drivers are rejected during the design process. There are also minor changes as time progresses and my early. version of the Monza does not have the recessed handle now standard on LFSys cabs. Having just had a hernia operation, the lighter weight of the Goodwood does appeal but I am loathe to give up my Monza.
  22. The very first record I played on required a fretless for a slow song. I borrowed a 76 maple neck precision from a friend. It was modded with a JB PU in the bridge position, just like yours. It was the first time I played fretless but it worked out fine and sounded very good. Since then I´m in love with these.
  23. My gorgeous granddaughter's first birthday today. My god, it doesn't seem like five minutes etc.

  24. I think we can all agree that Steven Seagal singing "Me want the poonani, see for make nice" in a Jamaican accent is perfectly acceptable:
  25. No escape for me….
  26. Apparently this has happened several times before and they got through it in the end. I hope they'll live through this too! Would hate to see them go. They're owned by BBE, who don't exactly appear to be very relevant anymore as a company. Their Sonic Maximizer pedals, rack units and plugins were succesful for a while and they made some cool preamps in the past, but when you visit their site now it still says "2016" at the bottom and the button that should lead to their Products page is very much dead. Not a good sign. Their website for their plugins is more up-to-date though (2025).
