  1. Past hour
  2. Nice. Sounds great on your vid too, really cuts through with a lovely throaty lo-mid growl. Just so you know, those inlays on the neck are aftermarket stickers, but nicely done. There will be dots underneath them.... Always preferred the full inlays myself so looks great!
  3. ... and 'I'm saving up to buy one, and hope to have enough soon.'
  4. Here is a pretty much brand new Dingwall NG3 5 String. I've had this for 2 months, used it for 1 gig, and a couple studio session. Hands down the best 5 string bass I have ever player, but sadly not quite the right fit for me. The action is crazy low and yet the strings ring true and clear. Tone from this thing absolutely beastly. This has all the new upgrades Dingwall introduced this year: - Minimalist bridge - Smaller active/passive switch (for no snags and harder to knock by accident) - Neck binding - String bullets (individual string retainers) Finish is a gorgeous black with subtle sparkle. Matt finished knobs that seem to be rubberized, are super easy to grab mid gig and tweak away. I have all the original case and goodies, plus packaging so all good to get this shipped too - will be £35 to UK (contact me if needing shipped further afield and I can see what is possible). I am sure I will regret this - I was giddy after the one gig I played with it after the sense of ultimate low end power. But I know it will mostly sit in my studio unused for the various projects I am involved with. Feel free to get in touch with any questions.

  5. I have good result with a overdrive with tone control/clean blend like the EBS Billy Ultimate. Or a Sansamp BDI or YYZ pedal. It really 'opens' it up
  6. With the description I thought it would be like my Spear ...3x pickups and hinting at being red, gold and green...
  7. Still don't get the "Go To Bass" or "My Bass". At the moment. the bass I play most of the time is neither, but because it is the only bass I currently own that can cope with what I need to play in my current band, that's the one I play 99% of the time.
  8. To be honest, the price of the basses should only matter to someone who is SERIOUSLY considering buying one. It is their call whether to indulge. Otherwise, all the opinions of people who were never gonna buy one anyway, no matter what the price (over £2k knocks most people out) is just noise....
  9. The vast majority of my playing is done on my fretless, but when needs must I’ve got a couple of others with those speed bumps on.
  10. Don't know how I missed this in 2011. First Bass: Framus Star Bass, short scale, 1964 Go To Bass: Sadowsky Metro Hybrid PJ My Bass: Sadowsky Metro Hybrid PJ
  11. I'm not sure about any other genre but in the jazz world there are more bass solos than one could ever need. I even use the bow for some and yet the solos keep happening.
  12. It's not something I've ever been interested in, somehow.
  13. Given that this is BassChat there probably should have been an option for "I used to own a fretless bass but I don't any more".
  14. I finally have a buyer and we are meeting in Plymouth next week to hopefully conclude the deal. This gives me a chance to once again ride the GWR main line from Truro to Plymouth over Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge. Hopefully Win, Win.
  15. A fantastic compressor with plenty of tonal variety using 3 styles of compression with their own respective ratios. The SSL Bus compressor, FET 1176 and Darkglass's own Super Symmetry. There is also a lot of great tweaking that can be done via computer with the timings of attack, release and even a HPF. In fantastic condition, including box, manuals, rubber feet etc. Specifications: Hybrid Analog/Digital Compression Pure Analog signal path Blend control 3 built in yet distinct modes of advanced modelled compression Connect to your PC/Mac via Micro-USB (B) Free ‘Darkglass Suite’ software (provides additional fine control and compression models) 10-LED gain reduction meter Touch-Through metal sensors Internal doubling of supply voltage to 18V (allows for extra headroom) I/O: 6.5mm / ¼” Jack Input impedance: 1M Ohm Output impedance: 1k Ohm (9V DC, centre -, 2.1mm, ~250mA current draw)
  16. First Bass: 1981 Musicman Stingray Taken as payment for a job I did for a guy that I would end up playing with for a good few years. Ebony fingerboard Fretless that came with a Custom Fretted Neck and Series/Parallel switch added by previous owner. ’Go To’ Bass: 1981 Musicman Stingray Just recently bought a Squier CV Jazz as a project and to have a back-up and after some upgrades and a good set-up and enjoying playing but the Stingray is still number one, even though it is insanely heavy! ‘My’ bass: 1981 Musicman Stingray
  17. When I posted about my 4003HW in a new bass day thread, there were many comments about the clank. How do you Rick users get your clank. Both pickups, volume rolled back on one of them? I'm curious, I like my bass, it sounds good but I've never really been a 2 pickup player. Always a P bass you see TIA for your top tips
  18. ...and a lovely thing it was too... I thought this would have sold quickly...money must be tight all round.
  19. 2 extra things: 1: Ear Plugs. ACS off the shelf ones will do to start with. They will knock the volume down while keeping the EQ roughly flat. No more foam rubber things making it feel like you are on a submarine. Wear them all night. You won't get a post gig volume headache and you'll save your ears. Then in due time get some ACS custom moulded ones that will be even better. 2: Make sure you tell everyone on here when your first gig is. If you get one of the experienced regulars coming to the show then if something does go tits up then you've got someone in the audience ready to help. Unless it's a singer problem, obviously. Nothing can help them. Sad.
  20. It might not have been the intention of your post, but it comes across to me as being really sad that you appear to have let the expectations of society stomp all over any dreams you might have had.
  21. "Always on" version of the famous Boss tuner pedal. Takes up less space on your pedalboard. Pretty much mint condition. Price includes postage.
  22. As they have round cores I would say there's a bit mellower than the D'Ads. Watch this video, from 1:56 to 2:42 and then again from 6:49 to 7:35, which might help.
  23. I picked this up from @Basilpea not that long ago. It's a great cab, but it isn't a cosmetic match to my other AT210, so being the fickle person I am I want to replace this... It's got some small dents from being gigged, but overall in good condition and absurdly light. You can pick it up with two fingers! It's also very loud. W52 x D33,5 x H57 cm 600 watts at 4 ohms 103dB SPL Also comes with GR Bass soft padded cover. GR say: The lightest 2×10 bass cabinet in the world. Thanks to its size, lightness, and power, the AT 210 is one of the most versatile cabinets in the entire catalog. Suitable for both small and large live shows, it allows you to always have your sound with you. With the AeroTech line, you can have the incredible innovation of our Carbon Fibre cabinets combined with the Pure Sound of GR, which is the pure sound of your instrument. Incredible sound, lightweight, power, impact resistance, and a beautiful modern design. I'm afraid this is collection only, as I don't have anything suitable to ship it in. No trades either thanks. I'm using @Basilpea's pictures, which I hope he's okay with.

  24. This amp is now £400 on Amazon. Incredible. I will drop the price for the amp, adapter, pedalboard and case to £500, which is still a good deal I think, but I really cannot go any lower. If it doesn't sell at this price I will just keep it as a spare.
