  1. Past hour
  2. From Spector website:
  3. I specifically bought the Ian Hill model as it has a slimmer neck profile, front to back. As an FYI, the Doug Wimbish models have a J (1.5") width nut, so are also easier on the left hand than a standard Spector
  4. Very nice Clarky. I was up at Tony's house last weekend setting up a few basses for him. Nice job with the crown inlays. Looks very special. I only wish Spector necks were thinner (fingers to thumb), because they never suit me. I had a spalted maple Euro with Aguilar pickups for a couple of hours a few years ago until I returned it to Andertons.
  5. An addition to the Stairway to -
  6. Bach to you - Bryan Adams
  7. Just did a bass p/x trade with Simon, our first deal in a few years. As always, a gent to deal with and I am very happy with the bass I received in exchange. Top stuff!
  8. Nah-that was only the Yorkies !!!
  9. Forsooth, I spy The electric lute
  10. I'm was going to go for the obvious used options, ie. Hohner Jack / B2A are usually very reasonable, but instead I'm going to go for one of your other suggestions - I've been using a Cort Artisan Space 4 for the last couple of years (started with a Space 5 first) and they're a great, compact bass. Very light, too. I keep mine permanently in the boot of the car as a backup, or teaching bass. Highly recommended!
  11. I have had this for over a month but the crown mother-of-pearl fret stickers only arrived this week from US. I think they look the part and also tone down the Judas Priest 50 logo at 12th fret. Nice slim neck profile and a comfy 8 lb 2.5 oz in weight (this is the one I got from the Gumtree chap who has a gazillion basses for sale who was the subject of another thread).
  12. Yes……..mainly piano and organs if I recall correctly. They had two shops; one in the precinct behind the Chancellor Hall and one in Moulsham Street. Very personal service…..but not cheap.
  13. finger, trying both soft and hard, buzzing stays thank you for the nice offer, but I'm afraid I can't quite make the trip right now (carless atm)
  14. my dad is a far handier guy than I am, he says he understands the problem and will adjust the truss rod when he gets home 😅 (I really don't trust myself with stuff like that)
  15. Cool, .my blue burst G&L ASAT is my primary gigging bass. It's a 1994 and I've had it since 2009. Daryl
  16. I'm from the isle of Wight with a big holiday season, pubs, bars, beach side cafes etc, so we had a couple nice shops. Tom Taylors in Sandown. Remember an Orange 120 bass bin rig in the window, crazy and so 70's. In Ryde there was 'Guitar Centre' which was actually the converted lower half of a two up two down house, but full of stuff. Saturday mornings were always fun there as the local heroes would drift in.... And Teagues the sprawling classical instrument store which had a tentative go at the 'pop' stuff. Saw my very first bass amp ever in there, an HH 15" combo... I was only 13 and totally hooked.
  17. I reckon 50% of the blokes had tank tops on under their coats.

  20. I love your Em-bassy more every time I see it, Neepheid.
  21. Indeed. We'd all be playing variations on this:
  22. Indeed, good call Mick
  23. Gorgeous. I've got a V7 fretless, and it's superb. Mine pre-dates the passive V5 or I probably would've gone for that rather than actives I tend to switch off!
  24. For an extra £3 or so you can get a gel holder for them, and the 4 pictured above have diffuser gels fitted to spread the light more.
