  2. Just thought I would add to the thread with this Ken Taylor 5 that I bought last year. I got it new from BAX for an absolute steal, prior to them going bump. It's not fashionably light (9.5lbs), but I'm not too bothered - (it's much lighter than my 6 & 7 strings!!) The main thing is it sounds absolutely immense, love the growl of the humbuckers, the EQ and blend can get a great variety of tones, and almost plays itself. Build quality is as good as anything else I've played.
  3. Spin The Black Circle - Pearl Jam
  4. You are probably right, but My bank manager's too tight.
  5. Stingray Classic Bass in rare Lake Tahoe Blue which is very similar to Lake Placid Blue with birdseye maple fretboard and neck from 2011. The body is made of ash and it’s general condition is 9/10 for it’s age with a small mark on the front of the bass (see photos) and the usual swirls on the pickguard, weight is 4.6kg. Also comes with a standard Musicman hardcase. Price £1,850 but open to reasonable offers. I have a suitable box to ship it in if the buyer arranges for it to be picked up from my house and pays for the shipping. Also happy for anyone to come around and play it in my studio in Coalisland. Sale available to people living in Northern Ireland and UK mainland only. I have also advertised the bass on Ebay and Reverb but at a higher price due to commisson if you prefer to purchase it that way.

  6. OMG! You're right! But my memory is so hazy of that night...
  7. Wow, what a beauty!
  8. Thanks.
  9. None, but I avoid 2.4GHz like the plague for mission-critical applications. This would not interfere with anything, but the 2.4GHz carrier might.
  10. I hovered over buying this and 100% would have if I didn’t already have a JB that I love (and which I paid considerably more for). This is an excellent bass and an excellent price, and I might still end up buying it…
  11. This controller is sold with slight cosmetic variation by many vendors, as well as being sold as an IEM by various companies, most notably Chauvet Obey 40. In fact, I have just downloaded the Chauvet Obey 40 Manual and used it to programme mine. . I bought mine for about £20 S/H.
  12. The Micromix 1 USB is a two channel mixer running from a 5 volt supply. Both channels have gain, volume, treble, bass and pan, but one has variable input gain, and the other has switched gain, and a HiZ function for instruments. It can be powered from a phone charger for stand alone use, or powered from a USB socket on a computer, where it can also be used as a recording interface. If you are interested in IEM's, this unit can mix your bass on one channel with an Aux-out feed from your mixer into the second channel. If you want to try an ambience mic to pick up stage sound, the package includes a basic but serviceable Maplin / Tandy electret microphone. If you want to set up a youngster with a basic recording system, I will also include an instrument lead. Price includes postage within UK mainland. David
  13. I nearly bought this on Reverb last year - absolute stunner of a bass 🤩
  14. Today
  15. Cheap generic much like this: Page 2 of each short address can be used to control a fixture with a long address 8 higher than the fixture on page 1 (if they both use 8 bytes or fewer).
  16. What controller or Software are you using?
  17. Shouldn’t that be “If I had some spare cash, Id have taken it in a flash”? 😀😀
  18. @bass_dinger great song! I’d recommend starting with the ‘generic’ main riff that I start off with in the lesson. Tracy Wormworth constantly makes small changes to the riff but this is her main idea. Have fun!
  19. Clean as clean G&L JB standard jazz from January 2019. 4.25kg Orig black tolex case (or other options) and paperwork. Current new price is c. £2k. Shipping no problem. Face photo looks like it has smudges or summat, but it doesn't.
  20. Does that Markbass preamp have a passive tone control either in passive only or both? Cheers @Philly
  21. Do you not remember that crazy evening when you all chucked your keys into a bowl..? Maybe you got the wrong keys when you came to..? ...

  24. Is there any new bass amps/what are they? I’m interested to know how much better the Agoura amps really are and how much is the Emperor’s New Clothes! I suppose the real difference will be noticed when through a proper PA at volume, that screen looks nice!
  25. Apologies for being almost a year late on this thread. I googled Lawrence Canty today and found out he'd passed away. Very sad news and I'd like to with my condolences to his family and friends. I first met Lawrence in the early 90s at Goldsmiths college. I did his weekly course there and turned up thinking I knew a fair bit about playing. Lawrence soon dispelled that myth for me when he presented me with the notes for the course. He was talking about chords, their structure, their relevance in a progression, what would work and what wouldn't work ... Why would I need to know about chords I thought ? I don't play chords on bass! I stuck the course out right to the end (I think it lasted 6months or so) and I turned up religiously every Saturday. I left with so much more knowledge of the fretboard, harmony, chord structures, progressions and just a huge understanding of music in general. Lawrence was a superb teacher and for someone with my limited learning capacity he made it easy for even me to understand. I will always be in debt to him for teaching me what no amount of reading of self teaching ever could. I was also supremely impressed with his playing and even to this day, his tone from his finger style playing has never been equalled. It was just perfect. At that time I recall he had a residency gig at a hotel in London and he would always give me a lift over the water to a tube station near his gig. We'd always talk bass and music and also about life in general. He put me onto Joe Meek, James Jameson and many other players who I'd never heard of. I can honestly say he was a huge influence on my playing and I'd always quote his name if anybody asked me who I respected as a player. R. I. P. Lawrence. 😢
