  1. Past hour
  2. Try using the 5th string instead of not using it because you don't need it. You are allowed to play it further up than the 4th fret.
  3. I've built 2 using Warmoth parts. I used Gotoh bridges on both and put a bridge cover over them. ( the correct way round 😂 ) that way it doesn't matter if you use the period correct original 2 saddle design or not as no one will see it
  4. Hi. Here you go (from the Gator site)... Length 12.50" Width 19.00" Height 9.00" Cheers!
  5. Having a high pass filter in your chain is different to using a compressor! Unless I'm misunderstanding your point here!
  6. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  7. Maybe have a rule that on the hour for 15 minutes amps are turned off / muted?
  8. Update time: I think the total number deposits will allow us to make molds for the p bass, j bass, SR4N and SR5N necks. Thank to everyone who put deposits down. I'll start final confirmation of measurements this week.
  9. My eye (yes, I have two. Don't worry...) was caught by the cool looking lever at the top of the bridge - does this amazingly manly bass have a lever that deploys the string mutes? Bet MusicMan wish they'd thought of that before adding those fiddly tiny metal round screws under the bridges of Classic Stingrays. Seriously impressed by the intonation calibration markings on the bridge as well. If Bang & Olufsen made basses, they would make basses like this.
  10. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/

  11. Very decent piece of rack gear, equally suitable for studio or live use (I've used it both ways). The two multi-way cable clips on top are there by self-adhesive stuff and will remove. I found them useful enough to choose to leave them there for the new owner. The original box is present, as seen in the photos, but not the polystyrene inserts. I'll use bubble wrap for postage. 12. That's a great sound!
  13. I think just you playing the autoharp will do for starters Jack.
  14. 180 pounds? Blimey, another celebrity on Mounjaro Ps, quickest bump ever!
  15. Yeah I think it'll really show off the wood nicely - but will see what the luthier says. I'm only interested in it because it looks so nice but the more I read about it the more I'm leaning towards leaving it alone - if it needed some work anyway then I'd be leaning towards it but as it is - I'm not 100% sure. The material varies so much so I'll see what Steve says, what he has experience using, and go from there. Currently the relief is about right but I'll wait until it's finished to put my favourite and slightly heavier strings on it, and the new bridge. These strings are OK but I've forgotten how 'grabby' non coasted strings can be. All in all I'm really glad that the main parts function so well before the modifications/corrections take place. It also needs shielding, badly. Lots of hum when not touching anything but silent when you do. So: - Bridge is on the way - Neck needs coating - Musicmaster decal to be applied - Pickup surround on the way - New wiring loom being discussed (likely pan/tone with series/parallel option and possibly second capacitor mode - Shielding - investigate using original tuners (maybe) - Learn to play
  16. Ah yes, another hate. Using your PIN number to withdraw money from an ATM machine. Examples of RAS syndrome.
  17. I bought a 'real' BBD delay years ago because I thought I should have one it for the 'authentic' sound. A Moog MF-104m. Yes, it sounds superb for what it does. In the end I got frustrated with the lack of versatility - you can change settings between songs / mid-song if you hook it up with MIDI but you are stuck with that sound - sometimes I wanted cleaner / longer delays. I later got a Line6 HX Effects and haven't looked back - it sounds great and I love the total recall of presets. The Moog is sitting in its box. Happily, a cruise on eBay suggests it's worth nearly three times what I paid for it, so when I get my act together I will probably move it on. Oh... And a fretless bass.... One day I will learn how to play it!
  18. If you have bass with active electronics: how is the battery state?
  19. The hissing of summer lawns?
  20. Hope it has a lovely grain. Or maybe stain it if it's rather on the pale side:
  21. Fabulous, & as usual in a different time zone 😭😆
  22. I've attended both the SW and the SE Bashes. The SW is in a single hall with one secondary room. The SE was in multiple, smaller rooms. For auditioning gear, the multiple rooms of the SE Bash were infinitely superior. Here, you're in a room with four to six other bassists and don't have to wait long before you can try the gear of your choice at a decent volume without clashing with someone else. Also, turning the volume up in one room doesn't affect anyone in the other rooms. Despite its many-sided wonderfulness, the SW Bash isn't always ideal for auditioning gear because of the way sound travels from one end of the room to another. If you get several people playing at the same time, it can become a bit messy. And with forty people in the room, there is always going to be a clash, no matter how considerate everyone is (which they usually are at the SW Bash). @cetera mentioned this earlier in the thread. So, if there's another room going, I'd suggest getting it. On the matter of mains sockets, @scrumpymike always reminds people to bring an extension, and that's worked well in the past.
