£80.00 WMD Parametric EQ in it's original box with user information sheet. This unit is in excellent unmarked condition and perfect working order. Great quality EQ in a compact pedal, tryout/collection welcome or insured UK postage for £8.00 There are 3 bands of EQ with frequency ranges from about 40Hz to 15kHz. Each band is an independent bandpass filter with adjustable center frequency, quality factor, and gain. Use them to sculpt and shape your tone however you like. Stomp Switch - This footswitch activates the EQ. The center LED will be lit when the pedal is engaged. Freq - This selects the center frequency of the filter. The three frequency ranges are: 31Hz to 1.6kHz, 100Hz to 4.8kHz, 300Hz to 16kHz. Q - The Quality Factor (Q) gives you control over the sharpness of the filter. Turn it up and the filter section becomes resonant and more abrasive. Low Q settings sound like a traditional EQ, higher Q adds resonant nodes. The Q ranges from about .1 to around 30. Level - This controls how much cut or boost you have from the band. Center it (0) and the band is out of the circuit. Turn clockwise and you'll get more of that frequency, turn counter-clockwise and you'll hear less. If all 3 controls are at 0, you should be able to click the pedal on and off and not hear any difference. Overall Level - This gives a overall cut or boost at the output of the Parametric EQ. Like a volume control, but with some gain available.

On a 2013 Rick you should be able to turn the rods without having to manually flex the neck into your desired level of relief, then matching this by tightening the rods. The latter is a technique more associated with the hairpin rods seen on the 4001 basses. Still plenty of reasons the rods can be ineffective in a 4003, however.

After much experimentation over the last few months, I have now settled on my preferred strings for each of my basses, so these unused sets are all up for sale. It sounds to me like insufficient neck relief. Have you checked that you have tangible relief on those strings? Hold down the string on the 1st fret and the 15th and then tap the string at the 6th fret. There should be a small but perceptible gap. If the string’s hard down on the fret, then there is insufficient relief. With a Rick, there are particular techniques to adjusting them so, if the above is the case and if you aren’t familiar with them, best to report back here before doing anything yourself 🙂

If they come to see you regularly and know your sound, they would be a good choice to provide a check that nothing was badly out of balance. Not a replacement for a decent soundcheck but preferable to only finding out at the end that something was wrong. And all for the price of a couple of pints.

The Hulla band played a 50th birthday party last night in what is becoming a regular venue for us in Port Eynon on Gower. We've played inside and outside the hall, in teepees and marquees there and, for the first gig I played with them, open air outside the fish and chip shop on the sea front back in 2022. That day we were paid in food. 😀 The stage was cramped but I wanted to play my new 5 string Ibanez. I was aware that it might not be possible without repeatedly stroking the guitarist's lower back with my headstock (not a euphemism) and took my headless shortscale Ibanez as an option. But I managed to find a little spot between drums, keys and guitarist that I was able to make my own. I had planned on using the onstage monitors rather than my in ears but the cramped conditions and proximity to the drums and the guitarist's amp meant that I ended up with the IEM. Our sound man had brought the PA subs and during the soundcheck my bass was booming away but once the hall filled up and he'd EQ'd properly, the sound was good. I kept the board to a minimum - Zoom MS60b giving me a noise gate, compressor and tuner and my Ampeg Classic preamp going into a DI box and into the desk. IEMs were through my Behringer P16 via Ultranet from the desk and a pair of KZ ZS10s earphones on which I've replaced the silicon buds with foam ones for much better isolation. Footwear of choice was the lace up black Skechers which have become an intergal part of my sound. This was my first gig playing a 5 string for several years and there were a few string faux pas but nothing the derailed the night and overall I was happy with my performance, and with the 5 string. I love the narrow string spacing and neck, which suits my hands perfectly. As usual, we had a lot of fun on stage and the audience were up and dancing from the first number.
