There's 2 ways. You can either go lightning to a stereo cable into both returns on the Stomp. You'll need to go into the stomp settings and set the FX returns to be a stereo line in. That will make the Stomp do a clean pass through without any FX etc interfering with the backing track signal. Then the stomp main outputs or headphones to whatever you are listening with. The other way is to connect the stomp to the iphone and listen via the phone. This can be very useful if you are using other things in your phone like the camera for videos of what you are doing and that sort of thing. It's USB from the stomp into the phone and then a suitable app. Even something like Amplitube Free will use the Stomp as an interface and let you load up your iTunes library and even slow it down / change pitch etc. I don't think one is better than the other necessarily, just a different approach depending on what you want to do with your combined signal.

As others have said, spend some time in a store and find the bass that feels right in your hands and sounds good to your ears. You can really play any bass for most types of music. The most important part is that you get something that feels right for you. And also, if you really want to progress, get a teacher and learn to read sheet music.

Two gigs yesterday, a noon hour bluegrass trio gig at a restaurant in North Bay where we have played before and then a set in the evening at a bluegrass festival with the full 5 piece band. Both went well and as a trio we are really getting tight on the vocals with traditional sounding three part harmony on a lot of the songs. Long day but a good one, I left home at 10AM returned at 11PM and drove over 300km. We will be playing two more sets at the festival on the weekend, lots of driving but great fun.😊

I'd been a bass player for about 19 years when I picked up a GSR200b by chance at a local shop and thought it was not only good, but actually too good not to buy right there and then. I'm sure there are some individual examples out there that have issues, but that can be said of just about any production bass. In my experience the neck was smooth and straight, the fretwork was well done, the hardware was solid, the pickups and preamp sounded good, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it alongside other basses that cost anything up to 20 times more. If you get a good one there's no reason it can't be much more than just a beginner bass, and the only reason I don't still own mine is because I switched back to playing 5 strings exclusively and couldn't quite justify the space to store it.

That would have been a knock out bass🤪 -
When told "Pre EQ only" I just say "Sure"..... then send it Post EQ. I then get the usual "Your bass sounds great"... 🙄🤦♂️🤣👍

It was about fifteen years ago , in a local vintage shop. The owner felt a used Ric should go for about $1200. Didn’t realize that that 4002 was worth considerably more. A couple of friends passed too , we laugh about our stupidity today …

Getting a first bass you like and get on with and actually want to pick up and play can be a key factor in whether you end up sticking the course when you first start learning. It sounds like for the OP that's the Ibanez. Any bass at any price point can develop fret buzz, generally if it happens it'll be down to envrionmental factors and it can almost always be fixed pretty quickly and inexpensively either by a tech or by the player with the help of a couple of youtube vids.

Buy the bass that feels best and is most likely to make you want to play it.

Both pick and fingers for me. I never use the ultra low. Yes, great heads. Not only do they sound glorious when pushed--they look as good as they sound.
-
I have one of those as well--to go with my 212. Fantastic head when pushed and the tubes start compressing. Sweet! Problem for me is I never need t be that loud. My V-4HB sounds different. Bigger and smoother, whereas the V-4b AV is brighter and has more mids (both being flat). The old BH has the same pre as as SVT, the new (old old) v-4bs are a little different.

Hi All, Anyone know of a company or one man in a shed that can make a custom thumb rest that mounts to the screws holes of the pickguard of a Rickenbacker 4001V63? I ordered the standard one from Retrovibe (ThumbChum) and then found out it doesn't fit, also checked with RickySounds before buying theirs and they've confirmed it won't fit. Whilst I can manage without, it would be nice to have one.
