I just bumped the topic because i intend to do my review of this cab in the next days ;)
I look forward to agreeing with everything you say about it. I had one of these on loan for a few months and it was... astonishing.

Have any of you guys gone from 2 Epi UL112-2 cabs to an S12-T? If so tell me more as am wavering!
Close, i had a UL212 - series 2 and briefly also had a UL210 - series 1 on loan. I'll do my best to explain the diferences.

Ok, first impressions; F*CK!!! This thing can play! It's seriouly loud. One of the things i was affraid was not having enough low end (having owned a Midget in the past) but there's no reason to worry about that. A full range sound, well balanced, enough low end (i say enough because it won't be the best cab for dub) very clear mids and some of the best highs i've heard in ages. Really good, i can't wait to cracnk the volume on tonight's gig!

Comparing to the Epis i can say that this cab is more balanced and doesn't suffer from the scoop in the mids that Epi has. The low end is close to the one un the UL212 and so is the weight (i'm a small guy and could carry it during a short distance in one hand). I would say that the Barefaced will cut more in the mix and will sound a bit louder, its all about the mids, the scoop on the Epis is probably the best designed one i've heard, it really sounds great but i prefer that my cabs put out what's going in and the S12 is excelent at that.

More to come, still have to pass the gig test! :)

You gonna be using the Streamliner or the Thunderfunk?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm looking eventually to get a BF. The EBS Proline 410 I use at the moment is wonderful with the Streamliner but it's just a monster to move about. If I could get something which sounds as big and as good as the Proline but half the weight and size, I'd be a very happy bunny.

lol, no man, STL-9.0 means Shuttle 9.0, i believe that the streamliner is named STM-900 or something similar ;)

But to answer your question i'll be using the Thunderfunk, i'm loving it, its more open than the shuttle and doesn't sound as compressed but i wont be parting the Shuttle any time soon, it's the best digital amp i've tried and has a very clean sound.

I believe this calls for another bit of bass porn:

cheers

Thanks for the initial observations matey! I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on using it with your Shuttle (that's the same one I've got so that'd be the sound I got!) am so tempted!!

In that case a Barefaced Super Twelve will make you a deliriously ecstatic Oryctolagus cuniculus - there's no doubt about it.

The cab passed the gig test with flying colours. The sound was defined, punchy and with lots of low-end. In fact i used my rig a bit louder than usual and nobody complainted. It was great to feel all that lovely bass sound kicking me in the back. I'm not repeating this any time soon because i came from that gig with a small hearing loss on the higher registers  I'm OK now ;)
Used the cab raised on a chair and no lows were lost, it could have been a bit higher so i could hear the tweeter better but that could just be me starting to loose that bit of high hearing.
Once i plugged it the drummer immediatly said that that was a loud cab, during gig he frequently looked at me smiling and nodding his head.

I'm sold on this one, it could have a bit more highs (i'm using the tweeter maxed out) but maybe i'm still not used to it comming from a MidgetT who has more highs. If i ever sell it it will be on the day that Alex can produce a 2 cab rig that together can play as loud and as low as the Super12T. It's still a bit big for me to cart upstairs to my studio... :)

Funnily enough, I was using an EBS Proline with my Streamliner, but the betweetered 1x15.

Sounds great with the STM900, but the S12T is just a different animal altogether.

No trouble handling the big lows of the amp, great clarity and punch, and the potential to go insanely loud.

All that with a one-hand lift, plus wheels if you're feeling lazy. And it fits through doors without taking the skin off your knuckles!

Your wife can identify different types of helicopter by their sound? Cool!! B)

We have Chinooks from RAF Odiham fly around our area and they sound very distinctive, I think she prefers a low, deep throbbing !

The Super 12T sounds amazing with a GB Streamliner 900, cant praise mine highly enough .

The current mrs discreet seems to be very interested in choppers as well. Strange, isn't it?

 • 4 months later...

...after a 13 week wait, I get my S12T on Friday........as you all probably know already.......to say I am excited would be an understatement.
I have been cabless since March (!!) ....relying on house gear at rehearsals...luckily we've not had any gigs recently as have been trying to get an album together

Well not to overload your excitement, but since i had mine i've used it about 10 times and it just keeps getting better and better and i can carry it in one hand (i've waited 20+ years for a cab like this to be designed) praise the lard !

The rumours are definitely true, so much in fact that you become spoilt by its magnificence and take it for granted, there is me enjoying the wonders of my Super 12T while recovering with a busted leg and I had a thought about replacing it with two midgets for the versatility of the two tiny cabs instead of one bigger cab scenario, how pampered have I become that I thought to replace a 42lb (still lightweight) mega cab with two 20lb cabs, it would be nice to have the choice of only taking one cab to rehearsal or small gigs, if anyone has two midgets and wants to do some kind of deal for the Super 12T let me know, alternatively I might just keep my S12T and save a bit more cash to buy another of Barefaced`s products on the basis that you cant have too much of a good thing after all :)
