I'll kick off with a couple. First up is something you don't see very often and took me [i]ages[/i] to find one. I always fancied the 'Musician' MC924 bass, very popular in the 80's. Alien Posted February 20, 2010 Share Posted February 20, 2010 Thought I'd stick up a few pics of my Ibby. It's an '82 MC824DS, with some of the loudest passive pickups I've ever come across. Controls are blend, volume and tone. [attachment=43155:PICT0907.JPG] Complete with factory hardshell case [attachment=43156:PICT0908.JPG] Lovely grain on the ash body wings, albeit slightly battle scarred [attachment=43157:PICT0910.JPG] Non original machine heads, unfortunately. These are semi-open Schallers, actually a one-sided set, so the D & G tuners work the wrong way round. [attachment=43158:PICT0912.JPG] 3-piece maple through neck with walnut stringers. The contouring around the neck/body join is superb, although I don't get up there often enough to appreciate it More battle scars here too. I've got it set up OK for the way I play, but it's quite badly in need of a fret dress or maybe even a refret to get it really fast and low. I wish it wasn't there, and especially not in that position as it is of no use whatsoever. Can't comfortably reach down to the G-string from there... I don't think the 'trays are original but I'm not complaining! The fretboard has a lovely flame which you can just see a hint of in these pics. 1980 RS924 Roadster: [attachment=43164:rs924v2.jpg] Rubbish pic I'm afraid - I'll have to take some more that do it better justice. Picked this up from ScumTree about 3 years ago, ridiculous bargain at £80, being a total gyppo scumbag I bought it to profiteer (I've seen these Ebayed for £300+) but once I cleaned it up & re-strung it, I couldn't put it down or part with it. This hasn't been out of its case much in the last 30 years, & it's practically spotless - I've gigged it a couple of times but it's a hefty beast & my back doesn't like it for more than half an hour without a lie down! It was a really cool guitar and I think the Joe Satriani signature guitars are based on that body shape. I won't desecrate this bass thread with pictures of it though! I really enjoy playing the Blazer, I can get some really nice burpy midrange from the pup and retro fitted active eq. Love it to bits. It was a she but now he's a he,meet Bob. I played one of these at the National Bass Bash in Northampton a couple of years ago and it was fabulous.. Great sound, fun to play - much easier than I thought actually..! Good to see one here..
