BassAdder60 Posted Sunday at 20:40 Posted Sunday at 20:40 I’ve recently ordered the TE1200 amp as I missed it after selling to Stevie at LFYS. How are other owners getting on with theirs ? I think the dual compressor and type of EQ points and pre shape make this an awesome gigging amp Quote
Merton Posted Sunday at 22:24 Posted Sunday at 22:24 Still love mine though don’t have enough big gigs to really let it loose. There is a part of me that thinks either that or my Handbox WB100 should go to a new home because I really don’t need both, and an Elf. Then I slap myself round the face and pull myself together .🤣 2 Quote
BassAdder60 Posted Sunday at 22:54 Author Posted Sunday at 22:54 I was tempted to get an Elf to use as a spare amp assuming from memory they sound similar to each other ? I wish I hadn’t sold mine and although I don’t need 1200w what I do need is the remarkable sound they make. The extra watts are a bonus really Quote
Merton Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago They definitely have the same dna in the their tone but of course the TE1200 is just an absolute beast 1 Quote

Yes, but it's nice to have all that power in reserve. Still enjoying mine. I compared it with some very nice, high-end amps at the last SE Bash but I didn't hear anything that would make me want to change. 2 Quote

BassAdder60 Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago It’s interesting that the TE1200 never seemed to sell well and is hardly stocked anywhere. I wonder if it’s the 1200w rating that put folk off ? Ive used 800w heads that seem underpowered at times PF800 as example even the RM800 isn’t what I would describe as extremely loud. 500w to 800w heads you can hardly hear the difference so 1200w shouldn’t concern folk as it’s only twice as loud as a 120w amp ! Clarky Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Can I be cheeky and piggyback here? I have a TE 1200 which sounds great on its own. However I just got a Bassrig 15 preamp pedal for an old school B15 sound and tried to use the TE 1200 as a power amp. It works through the Power Amp In (rather than Effects return) input on the rear panel. However, the volume can only be controlled by the Bassrig, not the TE 1200 which seems weird to me. The manual says "To use the TE1200 as a power amplifier only, apply the signal to the power amp input. This loop is after the OUTPUT Level knob". Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance Quote
Merton Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Nope you’re doing exactly as it says @Clarky. Ultimately if you plug into the “Power amp in” you are simply using the TE1200 as a power amp with the volume open up 100%. I tend to run a preamp In front of the amp, and use the Trace preamp to take out any boom or add a bit of mid as needed for the room, that way I also control the volume from the amp Quote

Still a bit surprised that you cannot use the output/volume control from the TE1200 to set the onstage volume, as that is how I understood power amps work Quote
ebenezer Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Great amp apart from having no input gain clip indicator. 1 Quote

Downunderwonder Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 12 hours ago, Clarky said: This loop is after the OUTPUT Level knob". Perhaps you have different definition for "after". They will have done it this way to control the signal going to the external preamp. It is still an audio signal until the power amp gets hold of it after the loop. Quote

Doesn't work this way on the TE-1200. Before reading the manual, I tried plugging the BassRig into the Effects return and there was no sound. Quote

So plugging a patch cable into one or the other should make it work. EDIT - it looks like the effects loop can be turned on or off by the footswitch, so make sure it is on as well!
