I managed after a long time of being skint to get my old Suhr Jazz bass back.

There is a BC member that offered to buy this bass for me and he offered that I could pay him back which was such a lovely EPIC gesture!! It really was and it blew me away tbh. But the time wasn't right.  His BC name is three and his name is Loz bless him.

I don't want to bore anyone as I'm aware everyone is struggling but it's been brutal financially and we struggled to get to the next mortgage/council tax payment for a long long time. But we're now mortgage free so me got some basses a comin.!!. Debora doesn't know this yet.. 😆

Suhr Custom Classic J4 Swamp ash body.

Maple neck.

Suhr 2 band pre.

Aguilar single coils.

I have exchanged a few messages with Laurence over the course of this year as I was very interested in a bass he was looking to move on. Sadly for me at least I didn’t manage to raise the finances as I had instruments to sell and no takers, which is often the way when something comes along. Timing is everything it seems!  He is an absolute top bloke, very polite, patient, self effacing with a great sense of humour. Clearly he is also a very decent human being!! I am really glad you got your bass back as it looks like a beauty. I played a Suhr Jazz at BassBros recently which was indeed a wonderful instrument and it’s easy to see why you love ‘yours’ so much.

Congratulations and well done Three for making such a magnificent gesture. ❤️

Wow, I got up this morning ready to go to the cenotaph and then deal with a lot of hassle that’s arisen in the past few days. I opened this thread and now I’m blushing! Thank you very much all for the incredibly kind comments – the feelings are entirely mutual. I’ve met some of the most lovely, humane, and humble people I know through Basschat. Thank you!

Onto the Suhr, i’m absolutely delighted that this has returned to where it belongs! It’s an absolutely gorgeous instrument. It really needed a good set up when I played it, though I was massively impressed by the fit and finish. What a lovely close to a long story!

I am delighted to see that you have rediscovered the joy of bass with your much-missed Suhr.  They're top quality instruments, and an active Jazz Bass like that really can do it all. May you get much pleasure from playing it.

That said, may I offer some well-meant but unsolicited life advice without causing offence? It's just that now your financial and domestic situation has eased a bit I would strongly recommend putting some thought and planning into how to improve things even more in that respect going forwards. That might mean holding off a bit before putting financial resources into buying many more basses.

Take it from me my friend, there isn't a bass in the world that is more important than a stable and happy home for you and yours. I am speaking from personal experience when I say that we all need a safe haven in this world, and no bass, however nice, will provide that for you.

I know it's none of my business, but there, I've said it anyway.🙂
