dave_bass5 Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) As per another thread, im getting a bit of interference from my Lektao WS90's under certain conditions, or rather they are causing interference. So ive been looking at the two above. I know a lot of you use the Nux, but im not interested in that as I dont want to carry a case around. I prefer to just throw the thing in my gig bag. Im also not sue I like the auto off feature. From the spec I understand the Fender has up to 8 hours from a 2 hour charge, and the Xvive 5. Either is longer than I'll really need, but the 8 will get me through a rehearsal and a few night home practice. The fender has a quoted lower latency than the others. Any thoughts on either of those mentioned? im leaning towards the Fender, but its a bit more expensive. Edited August 5 by dave_bass5 Quote
BigRedX Posted August 4 Posted August 4 From those two choices I'd go for the Fender simply because it's easier to tell which is the transmitter and which is the receiver. 1 Quote

That was my thinking, although i tend to put a bit of brightly coloured tape on the receiver anyway. 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I bought the Fender, returned it after one rehearsal as it sapped a huge amount of low end from the sound. At home volume levels it sounded good, like some compression was added and just regulating the lows, but with the band it was like there was a filter removing anything from 120 and lower, took all of the oomph from the sound, and adding bass on the amp didn`t really solve it. Shame, it was a nice bit of kit and as BRX says easy to identify the transmitter/receiver - one of the reasons I bought it as middle aged eyesight needs all the help it can get. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 Oh, that’s surprising. I know the Fender has a cable tone built in (like the boss system) but I’m sure that’s to reduce the top end. What did you end up getting? Quote
Al Krow Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Hadn't come across the Xvive A58 - looks like new kit out this year with good reviews. I'm a fan of their U4 for IEM's. They do look quite bulky though! Btw - if you don't want to take the Nux case to gigs, there's nothing's stopping you leaving it at home - it's just there for convenience and doubles up as a back up battery pack. It's also available in 5.8 GHz. Quote

We have loads of USB C ports with us so if I need a top up im already covered. Id rather not pay for something i dont use. Also not looking for anything that doesn't use USB C now. I believe the Nux uses Micro USB. I too am a fan of the Xvive, I still use my 2.4ghz system at home sometimes, although I do find I get quite a few dropouts. It's well made and compact. The A58's seem to be a good upgrade but I dont see much written about them. Edited August 5 by dave_bass5 1 Quote
Al Krow Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Xvive A58 Guitar Wireless System review | Guitar World Nice little review on Guitar world - pretty positive Quote

I used the Nux 5.8 one for a while, but for the amount of gigs I do I moved it on and just went back to my trusty old BOSS WL20, any issues I`ll swap to a lead. 1 Quote

I like the idea of the Fender not having a light show on them, just one button and longer battery life (although its more than I'll ever need from one charge). Xvive is a tried and tested company I guess, and they are a bit cheaper. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 Just seen a review that stated the Xvive lasted over 7 hours. I’ll order those today. £118 on Amazon spread over 5 months interest free. Quote

I seem to have a lot of dropouts at home with 2.4ghz these days, so try and avoid using my older Xvive's if I can. It seems the WS-90's aren't shielded well, but I dont get drop outs. Hoping the A58 will be the of both worlds. Quote

I'm looking at this as a choice for a wireless system so wondering how you are getting on with it. How is the latency, and are you getting any interference or dropouts? Woodinblack Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Yes, I would be interested on this, especially relating to noise. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago (edited) I love it. Ive not had any issues at all. Latency seems below what i can hear. Sound quality is as good as a cable (to my ears), and it's smaller than my other systems. They also seem to be better shielded than the Lekato's I have. No hum etc. Battery life seems really good. After a 4 hour rehearsal I can still get a couple of nights playing at home before charging, and charging is fast enough (no slower than anything else either have.) According to my charger each device charges at 2watts. Im only using them with a passive P bass and a Yamaha BB425. The 425 has quite a song output but it doesn't cause the system any issues. No idea what an active bass would do, but there is a setting for that which I guess reduces the input signal a bit. Edited 3 hours ago by dave_bass5 Quote
Elfrasho Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Maybe not the most useful comment but i regulaly use the Xvive U4 IEM system and its been flawless. My only negative is that it seems to stay on unless its been switched off. It doesnt go into a sleep mode as far s i can tell. This might be the same. saying that, my cheapo harley benton wifi doesnt either so maybe its standard. Techwise though, i'd be confident in Xvive. Quote

Not me, but i lent them to the bass player in my other band (i play keys) for a gig. No issues. We use an XR18 and a 5GHZ router, but this never caused any interference. All other wireless gear is 2.4GHZ. We too was just using a passive P. Quote
