cetera Posted Friday at 13:46 Posted Friday at 13:46 (edited) A little while ago the Japanese Spector distributor ordered a very limited private run of Spector Euro CST's in a beautiful desert island finish over poplar burl, with an ash back, maple fingerboard, abalone inlays, EMG X pickups and the Darkglass Legacy (Haz-copy) preamp.... The finish blew my mind but I never thought I could get one. However, 2 bass sales and a very lucky timing (this bass was included in a shop 'sale') meant it actually became affordable. Cue the fantastic Danny Stewart at Bass Japan Direct who obtained the bass for me, checked it over, dealt with any declarations and couriered it to me in record time..... And here she is.... Just absolutely stunning and less than a 3rd of the price of a US custom equivalent! I think I'm in love! Edited Friday at 13:46 by cetera 24 Quote
Eldon Tyrell Posted Friday at 14:23 Posted Friday at 14:23 Wow, that looks absolutely stunning 😍 That's how the CST is supposed to look like! I think I had the same bass on my watchlist but our never-ending house renovation project kept me from going for it. Enjoy 👍 5 Quote
cetera Posted Friday at 14:33 Author Posted Friday at 14:33 Yep, that's the exact same one.... best finish of them all imho... 2 Quote

I'd be very interested to hear your opinion of how good the new HAZ- inspired Legacy preamp is, as well as your impressions of the bass overall. For if there's someone qualified to give an informed opinion on Spector basses, it is you!🙂 Edited yesterday at 19:26 by Misdee 1 Quote
cetera Posted Friday at 20:55 Author Posted Friday at 20:55 No, sadly tax free was only available if purchased in person instore. First impressions are that the Legacy is definitely in the same ballpark as the Haz/LHZ preamps.... very happy so far! Bass is wonderfully well made and finished. Neck is very playable.... not as thick, depth-wise as most Euros... and slightly flatter around the nut end of the neck. 3 Quote
Bolo Posted yesterday at 08:49 Posted yesterday at 08:49 🏜️ desert island finish is accurate. Gorgeous! 2 1 Quote

That's a truly stunning-looking bass, and I'm glad to hear the sound does it justice. 1 Quote

Eldon Tyrell Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Just in case anyone wants a similarly stunning looking bass. Ishibashi have a used CST from the same limited run. Check it out! The Euro CST models are inspired by the Woodstock, NY-based Spector Custom Shop and feature a new combination of tonewoods, electronics, and finishes never before seen on the Euro series. The Euro CST series is made of premium woods and features an impressive poplar burl top, a resonant European ash body, a three-piece North American maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard with laminated Avalon crown inlays. The bridge is made of a lightweight zinc-brass alloy for accurate and reliable intonation. Premium active EMG X-Series pickups provide the superior clarity, attack, and quiet operation that characterize the Spector sound. The condition shows that it has been used carefully with little signs of use. No problems with playing performance. There are no noticeable dents, and this is one that we can recommend to those who are considering a new one. Item Rank: B+: Some scratches, but no problems in normal use. Serial number: NB22317 Country of manufacture: Czech Republic Case: Gig Case Accessories: wrenches Weight: 3.53kg Truss Rod: No problem, rod is at 60 degrees to the left and right. Fretboard Height: No problem, fretboard height is sufficient. Scale: 864mm (34") Edited 7 hours ago by Eldon Tyrell 1 Quote
Paulhauser Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Congratulations @cetera it is a stunner! Myself is a bit relieved that it's not a 5 string and even if it was it's not available (Ishibashi site doesn't show new items, only used) 1 Quote
