I’m wanting to try this, it sounds ace on the demos, but it’s not cheap! That said, a good fuzz is hard to find and the fact the clean side/blend is a Jfet preamp and has its own character too is a big bonus. I’ve also never seen any second hand, which makes me think people keep them when they get them!

I’ve just bought one this morning, will let you know how it is

Hope this doesn't count a hijack but a comment above made me think perhaps someone can help identify what makes my favourite fuzz-bass sound:

First choice for me is Source Audio Ultrawave. Can be picked up cheap used as hugely under rated but need ot be prepared to program it via the app.

Analogue choice would be the Jam Pedals Red Muck of EHX Sovtek Deluxe. Both fantastic

What exactly is the Ultrawave - is it primarily a distortion/saturation/fuzz pedal? I’ve been sure what it is

Kasleder Freaky Stone, GE based fuzz face designed/optimised for bass, specifically shortscale hollowbodies with flats.

For those interested here is a comprehensive demo.

Honestly, SA dropped the ball on marketing - if they'd called it a utility pedal with endless distortion possibilities it'd have went down much better.

Its basically a tone processor, with both semi and parametric eq, top quality compressor, endless drive/dist/fuzz options, as well as mad tremolo stuff too. It does the best gated fuzz tone ive ever used but it's capable of simple EQ changes, drives and more stuff than im capable of understanding

Well that's nice and simple to understand...

That’s actually how I fancy using it - I’ve just had to talk myself around the idea I could have a fuzz as an always on! I think I’m going to end up with one before long!

I was using a Strymon Deco which is great as well but haven’t tried the two together as of yet

That’s another pedal I’ve looked at in my quest to find some saturation that I like, sounds real nice too from the vids I saw

Speaking of Thomann: Pigtronix Octavia Fuzz Micro is on sale at the moment, just £42. I’m tempted - the full size pedal gets the nod from @Al Krow here.

edit: and they were all gone by Friday evening!

My go to 'can do it all fuzz' is the Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler V2. Annoyingly there are very few demos and most of them just show off the extreme stuff it can do, which, IMO, isn't its strongest point (also there are a few bass videos to the V1, but the V2 is a very different beast). It does amazing thick fuzz, from classic muffins, to stoner, all the way up to synth lead stuff. It's a seriously awesome bit of kit and one that I've never even had a hint of 'maybe I should sell or upgrade for something else' since the day I got it. And that's a rare feeling.

My favourite all time fuzz is the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine by Smallsound/Bigsound. Looks like they're v pricey second hand now but I picked one up a few years ago and it's been my fuzz of choice since then. I particularly like how the mids aren't as scooped as a lot of fuzzes (e.g. EHX bass big muff), so it cuts through the mix well while still retaining a load of bottom end.
