steantval Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) Can anyone give me any advice on where to purchase a replacement jack socket, the enclosed black box type, that is soldered to the circuit board, they seem almost impossible to get hold of. My bass is a 1994, 2 EQ Stingray. I would be most grateful for any guidance. Edited April 23 by steantval Quote

I think you're probably best off contacting them directly. They'll likely ask you to send the part to them before they'll send out another. I hope I'm wrong, and that my case was the odd one out (took a year before I received a fitting pot for my NOS Bongo). Edited April 23 by BassTractor 1 Quote

Delberthot Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) I needed a battery box and output jack for my 2016 EMBB Sterling so emailed string and things It took a couple of months of very slow back and forth but eventually I received a box the size of a small suitcase ( I kid you not ) with the parts I needed. I can't remember exactly how much but it was roughly £22 delivered for both parts which seemed fairly reasonable 🤔 Edited April 23 by Delberthot Quote
SimonK Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) RE battery boxes, I've replaced them on both my stingrays (3EQ, 1998 & 2001) with the following which fits perfectly: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322826391603 RE the jack socket, I think you can get pretty close with standard parts: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265241820441 Edited April 24 by SimonK 1 Quote

Buy them at Mouser @steantval, they are the original ones and the price is way lower. I even put the two official wiring diagrams in the link above. Quote

steantval Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago I thought I would bring up this thread again. I went onto the online Musicman spare parts site and actually located the socket I required, priced at £3.10p, I proceeded to fill out my name and address and moved on to the payment section, this is what I discovered. Input Jack £3.10p UPS £30.59p Duties, Taxes & Fees £9.23p What an absolute joke, the total cost of getting a £3.10p part to me in the U.K. is £42.92p Quote

At £3.10 plus probably about £10 postage it isn't a massive risk... Quote
Hellzero Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Amazing to be so stubborn @steantval ! Here it is again! The official reference is Switchcraft 113X. 😉 https://www.switchcraft.com/assets/1/24/110x-m110x_series_cd.pdf?5406 You can find it here at a normal price: https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Switchcraft/113X?qs=iwvYsH9bSFbrUaj7QgyZ6A%3D%3D&srsltid=AfmBOoqhz7UfD89CrWZlOZAJMRlC2_sCGRrr2q8MhwZkTH-_NYfW8N7R The two wiring possibilities are here, accordingly to the type of output jack: 1 Quote
LeftyJ Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Status Graphite uses a very similar (if not the same) jack socket, and sells them in their online store at 3 GBP. Their site doesn't allow hotlinking because it uses frames, but when you go to their online shop section, under "Spare parts", click the "Jack sockets etc" button and scroll nearly all the way down. 1 Quote

Mokl Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I got mine from Strings Direct. Exactly the same (as far as I could see) as the original in my late 80s Stingray. 1 Quote
