Yes, Jochanan Bax was fired from his position of CEO in January - by his brother and FIL. He'll possibly be looking into buying back the company though.

...and he did. Bax is reopening under the old, fired CEO Jochanan Bax and an investor.

Looks like good news @LeftyJ...

Tmight seem that way for Dutch and Belgian customers, who've had a good shop in Bax, unlike our British brethren, but the CNV workers union had earlier stated than Jochanan was a terrible CEO - one of the worst they'd seen. They'd love a restart ... if it was without him.
The CNV is to come with a new statement today.

Bankrupt Bax Music makes a fresh start with former director

Bankrupt Bax Music is making a fresh start. Jochanan Bax, founder and former director, and investor Stijn Bakkeren are taking over the company. This is evident from an email from the curators to the dismissed staff, in the possession of Omroep Zeeland .

Bax Music is one of the largest stores for musical instruments and equipment in Europe. Early last month, the company was declared bankrupt . It had been in financial trouble for some time and had previously filed for suspension of payments.

Bax Music was founded in 2003 by two brothers, Nathanael and Jochanan Bax. Due to a conflict with the other shareholders, Jochanan, the sole board member, was fired earlier this year.

Shortly before the bankruptcy declaration, Jochanan Bax already announced that he wanted to make a fresh start with the company in the event of bankruptcy. That now seems to have succeeded. In the e-mail from the curator, it can be read that he is trying to keep the majority of the staff. Bax Music employed approximately 300 people. Jochanan Bax was not yet available for comment on Friday evening"

Hmm, looks like tentative signs of life at Bax 2.0... just got this email:

"After a hectic and challenging period, we're excited to be back doing what we love most: helping you make music.

We noticed you still have an open backorder with us, and we’d love to help you get it sorted!
Our team is ready to assist in getting your order to you, so you can focus on what really matters: making music.

Please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can get in touch and make sure you receive exactly what you ordered.

Thank you again for your patience and continued trust in Bax Music. We can’t wait to make you smile with your gear!

Musically yours,
The Bax Music Team"

Well, if they're going to honour the original order, sure, have at it!

Seems like you still can't order from them in general though, but the site is at least still there. I imagine they have a lot of stuff to work through

And we're off to a flyer!

"Recently, you received an email from us containing an incorrect email address for matters regarding open orders. We apologize for this oversight.

The correct email address is: [email protected]

We kindly ask you to use this address for all notifications related to your outstanding order(s) from now on.

Thank you for your understanding, and our apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

Musically yours,
The Bax Music Team"

I shouldn't laugh, but I did.

Don't know if it's a mistake or not, but it seems the online doors have opened up again at Bax Music - the "it is not possible to place an order" banner is gone from the top and you can add stuff to baskets.

I'm receiving adverts from them since a few days and the Dutch branch seems to be back on tracks now as you can order what they have in stock.

Things are deffo happening behind the scenes - my outstanding order has been subtly edited.  I ordered two things as a bundle.  Last time I looked at the order, the bundle had been zeroed (but was still visible on the order) and the two items spun out as individual items (honouring the bundle pricing).  Today I had a look and there is now no mention of the bundle at all, just the two items in question.

Don't worry, I'm not getting my hopes up, but I am quietly watching developments.

Yes, I got my first advert from them for a while.

I think they might be doing themselves a disservice by not saying in the email or anywhere in the website 'yes, we know we had a very public 3 month break but now we are back and are operating normally' rather than just not mentioning it and hoping everyone forgets!

I guess with the Fazely stuff there's a chance that Bax's earlier financial problems might have disrupted the manufacturing process if they weren't able to pay the factory at any point.

That's a good shout, hadn't thought of that angle.

Saw thius on linkdin, it's from 5 days ago (original post is in dutch, translated via linkdin

I am extremely proud that we have achieved a successful restart with Bax Music. Over the past month, the new Bax team has worked very hard to get our stores and webshop operational again — and with results.

The stores in Goes, Apeldoorn and Amsterdam are now open again.
Antwerp opens next Friday. Rotterdam is in negotiations.
🛒 The Dutch webshop is live, the other countries will follow later today.

What we have achieved in one month:
-The stores will immediately return to the old turnover level of 2024
-More than 120 suppliers have already delivered — our stock position is getting better every day. Only 3 suppliers do not want to do so for the time being and 2 others we have shown the door ourselves
-We have made 80% of the old Bax employees a new offer and except for 7 people, everyone has started again or will start soon
-Redesigned our entire online store
-Thoroughly cleaned up the ERP system
-Restored the supply chain software to the situation of November 2024. They had made a mess of it
-Cleaned up a lot more stuff from the last 6 months......

🙏 And all thanks to the incredible team that is now there. Their commitment, dedication and pace are admirable. This is only the beginning of a new chapter for Bax Music.
