2025 Gear Abstinence Thread

I'm happy with the main stuff - instruments, amps, cabs etc - that I've had for probably 10 years, and I've enough plectrums, strings etc to see me out I reckon.

 

So unless a new battery for a clip-on tuner counts...I'm still in.

Don't forget, you mustn't have the clip-on tuner clipped on while on stage, or the Basschat Taste Police will be down on you like a ton of bricks. And I advise against mentioning buying a music stand.

I had been looking for a bat winged Harmony for some years , and had also told myself that I was not going to import any more guitars from the US. When it happens , it happens. I love this bass , it’s a classic thumper.

Updated @Lozz196's status.

Also removed @Oliver bowen, who was never part of the thread in the first place but got added to the P31 update in error. He would be wondering why he has a second mention in a topic he has no interest in if he had actually visited the forum since he joined in 2024. 

 

Maybe we should start a "BC Abstinence Thread" for such people?

I haven’t bought anything this year, and plan to sell at least 2 of my 5 basses. If the band I’m in falters, I’ll sell my PA and drumset, save one bass a mic and my Ampeg combo amp and wait for the next bus to come along. I’m not likely to need anything, so this is an easy challenge

Well, if they've been clean for the entire year up to now, I don't see why not. But you can't come in now having already bought gear in 2025 and claim to be abstinent...

I've just realised we're now just over 3/4 of the way through the year. 

Well done to all those still in, and a scornful, finger wagging, shame on you to all those that have caved in to the shiny temptation of new gear. 

 

I'm currently being tempted by another bass that I don't need, or really want. A fairly hideous Kay rickenbacker faker with the wrong pickup and pickguard... But it is only £5!

Let someone else take the hit. Some anonymous hero took the fall for me when I missed out on an amp on eBay by £5!
