Fantastic rehearsal last night. Sounding as good with the new lineup as we ever did with the old lineup, which is really good considering this current lineup has only been together about 8 weeks.

That is really good.

what kind of music are you playing. Just curious to hear about others.

Took this bad boy out for its first ever rehearsal last night. It’s absolutely the best bass I’ve ever played and I OWN IT!!!

Ooohh an NG3 by looks of it. I had the NG2 version and liked it a lot. Went back to 4 strings and didn't need it.

Great basses.

They are great basses, I had a combustion for years and deciced to upgrade to this - it's a bit of a sleeper. Canadian ABZ but with a plain finish so it doesn't look like a custom from a distance.

The rehearsal was good fun. The drummer is good but very inexperienced so trying out ALL of his chops in the numbers and practising fills and rolls whenever we stop. And is VERY LOUD. But that's all fine. I have earplugs and the enthusiasm is great.

What I'm having to put my foot down on though is the speeding up. Once last night the tune was racing away so I tried to pull back, and pull back until I was completely out of time and neither of them noticed. They didn't even notice when I stopped playing and stood there waiting for them to finish the tune... which they did very quicklyt the speed they were going! I asked the, politely, to listen a bit more intently and to be fair they did after that.

The beers and the chat in the pub afterwards was also the hightlight of the week.

Band practice at church last night. Too hot, nobody could concentrate, the drummer and I could barely keep in time with each other and the trumpeters were dying of thirst.

Should be fine on Sunday! 😅

I have been playing a BBG5 that was on loan to me while I waited for my Dingle to arrive and it's a very, very good bass. It's downright unreasonably good for a budget instrument. I think the pickups are lacking in a live situation and it doesn't cut through as I'd like when I've gigged with it, but it's been a joy to play and the B string is really good. I can only imagine how lovely a high-end Yamaha must be.

I can accept that many people would prefer a TRB 5Pii to my ABZ. Still, I am really attached to the sound and playing experience of a Dingwall so I don't think I'd be tempted away.

Would it be disrespectful to play with ice packs stuck around your torso?

I could probably clamp a couple to my back using the strap for the bass. I wonder where the ones we had for camping are?

Dingle, didn't Ringo grow up in an area called the Dingle?

For the first time in over two years, and the third time since 1990, I reunited with 60% of my original band from Sixth Form. Everyone has massively mellowed with age and it was worth the trek from North Wiltshire to Southampton. I confidently took lead vocals on a couple and it stands out as a highlight of my year.

Just got in from a rehearsal with Knock Off. Went well as usual but the highlight for me was the Hartke HA3500 410 combo with their VX speakers, combined with my JMJ Mustang and Behringer BDI21 the sound was awesome. I know some people aren’t that keen on Hartke gear but this amp was just great.

Being sent audio of the last originals rehearsal. Sound quality is awful, reverberation and hardly any bass. Some of the songs are a bit ordinary, but one or two could prove real bangers.

I won't share because the quality is seriously poor.

I get it Stub. I've got a video from our gig from Saturday night. Video and audio are poor. It's not worth sharing

I don't know much about Hartke amps. I've seen them back lined. I knew Larry before he started that company .

I had a HA550 that was awesome but too big and heavy for my needs. Had a Kickback 12” 120w combo that was great … but again heavy! Loved the look of the aluminium driver tho.

I've played thru a couple of Hartke rigs over the years. Best was an LH500 head into 2off 15" cabs with the aluminium style speakers and it had an amazing bite to the tone. Not harsh but just a sharp grinding type edge. Its hard to explain but it was a cracking tone.

At a rehearsal i once had same head thru a Hartke 410 cab again with the aluminium speakers and again it was very nice. Both had a decent depth of tone too.

Never tried the HA range of heads tho.

Once bought the Kilo head when they came out but it was faulty on arrival and seemed to be an issue with them so it was returned to Thomann who were excellent but i lost money because of the exchange rates etc. That put me off Hartke as their customer service didn't reply at all when i had the issue.

Have to admit i was impressed with the tones i got from them.
