kolossusuk 0 Posted November 16, 2020 Hi. Opinions sought re Mayones basses in general and Caledonius 5 string specifically!
TheGreek 6,430 Posted November 16, 2020 One of my favourite "single cut" basses. I've only tried Mayones at the LBGS but the two I tried felt well built with quality parts. I like the headstocks too.
Bolo 915 Posted November 16, 2020 Very good quality, many awesome finishes. Well made instruments. Secretly have a little GAS for a patriot.

Westie9 0 Posted January 24 Superb playable instruments. Great for session work as so versatile.
JohnFitzgerald 145 Posted January 24 The two basses in my avatar were built by them and the standard o construction is flawless, as is the playability and sound. There's definitely another in my future. ( Mine are badged fame, I'll admit that, but they're made by Mayones)
ambient 2,234 Posted January 24 I had a 6 string Mayones a few years ago. I loved it. They’re extremely well made.
thodrik 592 Posted January 24 I have tried a Jabba Custom and thought that in terms of playability, fit and finish it was as good as any other boutique jazz bass. I have a couple of Vigiers and Sadowskys and I put the Jabba I tried in that class. Exceptional. I would definitely like to try one of the Patriot models. Chopthebass 610 Posted January 25 I have a Jabba Classic 5. I upgraded to birdseye fingerboard, 18mm spacing (which meant Delanos) and their three band eq. The build quality and attention to detail cannot be improved upon! Really top notch. The sound, however, a different story. The Mayo 3-band eq is horrible IMO, and I really didn't like the Delanos (personal taste). So in went Bart B-Axis, and East Uni-Pre. NOW it is the bass I hoped for! Oh, I also have a Vigier. On par with that!

I played a lefty Be4 Gothic once and was very deeply impressed. It had EMG J-style pickups and simple controls (VBT) and it sounded fantastic. I bought the six new and got the fretless from here and both feel very special to me.
Graham 710 Posted January 26 I had a Be4 with EMGs and an Aguilar OBP3, it was extremely good with exemplary build quality
bootleg 31 Posted February 4 My Comodous 6 is the best made, best sounding, most robust and reliable bass I have ever owned. Really fancy a fretless version.
