I'm just thinking ahead to a significant birthday.. but can UK dealers order SLO necks and the limited models? Or is it a straight "no" from MM for that sort of thing?

They're in the section of their website called 'The Vault' and available in the US only as I understand.

As you all probably know Musicman only do these things as limited, and in set finish combinations (in effect they're pre built for stock). Gone are the days of a configurator - even when it was available lots of people apparently asked for stuff not on there (wacky colours etc).

It's a bit like Fender, except they will do other configurations - at CS Masterbuild prices usually to get your exact spec.......

I read somewhere that manufacturing is very marginal and even the addition of a matching headstock add significant cost, especially if offered on an all colour basis.

I think we should be thankful they give the range they do on Stingrays!! A lot of colours there.

Wouldn't really call that pink.

I was offered a trade on a pearl MM, but it was a 4, and that isn't much use to me. Looked good though.

I've only owned one MusicMan (a Bongo 5HH, that I wish I still owned TBH), sometimes get an odd wobble for a Stingray, but it always passes...reckon it wouldn't be about the having, the thrill is in the chase.

Isn't it always. Technically I should be happy now, but there is always that look for something exciting.

I like they're actually making a 5-string Stingray that looks like the 4-string.  I love the St Vincent guitar.

I do too. I wish they did all the colours that she gets to use.

I definitely like the latest wave of Musicman BFRs.....especially the Ray 5 and the Albert Lee P90 x 3.

Musicman have always said they can't offer a semi custom shop; mind you if you are one of their artists you get some amazing options.

One day, I will get a St Vincent guitar!

I really like the colour of this bass, and I don't normally go for sparkle finishes, or pink for that matter. But I think the gold hardware is too much. It makes it look as if it is trying too hard to be ostentatious. And EBMM don't offer the option to change it, as others have pointed out previously. Such a shame as I am in the market for a Stingray at the moment.

Anything particular that floats your boat so to speak. I could justify that Dargie Delight if I sold one of my current ones 😂

Not that he’s in this picture, but if I got that gig, having a pink sparkly bass would be the least of my worries. Jamareo Artis is a seriously funky player - IMHO.

Agreed, and he has moves I wouldn’t even attempt without a bass let alone with.

Their web site has changed and there are reduced options now. When the Sparkly Night finish was announced, I spoke with Strings & Things (their UK distributor) and managed to confirm an HS configured Stingray with a matching headstock and an SLO neck. It’s a seriously nice looking/sounding bass and plays beautifully. Obviously that wasn’t a BFR, but even now, I don’t think you could order an SLO on a limited run for the reasons already stated by @drTStingray.

Thank the Lord!! There are only 85 worldwide - wouldn't pay for too many to order one 😏 😂

I love many of the new MM finishes.....but not that one. Looks like it’s a good job! 😁

The Starry Night finish.....now you’re talking. That’s epic.

Colour is irrelevant to any bass purchase I make. I genuinely don't care if the rest is right.

It's the SLO neck I want. If it's not available in the UK then the brand is not an option.

Unless they actually upgrade the Sterling with the new lightweight approach as well. No sign of that though.

What's the point having a pink sparkly bass if they don't let you in the video?

I have to say, the one shown at Bass Direct does look more appealing as the fretboard appears to be much lighter in colour. The one on page 1 of this thread looks a lot darker and makes it look like the black dots are fighting to be seen. I quite like the Bass Direct one, but it might look different in person of course.

Much nicer pics and a much nicer price than available in Guildford.
