el borracho Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 I've still got a Saxon 7" picture disc which is a mispressing. It has the A side, The Bands Played On, on both sides (it's not supposed to). Whether it has any rarity I have no idea, but I doubt it has much value as I cant see Saxon singles being in great demand. At the time I did go back to the shop. They said they hadn't come across any others so I kept it. Quote
Nail Soup Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Not a mispressing/misprint as such, but the converse to the "pillock who took it back" story. I bought My Bloody Valentine album "Isn't Anything" - the first 5000 copies of which came with a free MBV single. Except mine was with a different single (also on Creation Records). Like a pillock I kept it, thinking that I already had 12 MBV songs, and this would be a bit of variety. Still kicking myself 33 years later! Quote
Stingray5 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Here's a small but slightly odd label printing error. I bought the CSN&Y album, Deja Vu, in 1970 (still got it) but it wasn't until a bit later I noticed that the words "ONE" and "TWO" in the centre strip of the label had each been assigned to the wrong side. The actual track pressings are correct and the song titles are correct for each side. Just those two words that are wrongly printed. I worked in record shops in the 70s and 80s and was a manager for over 10 years and although there must have been a few that were printed before the error was spotted, personally I never came across another copy. SIDE ONE SIDE TWO Quote
PaulWarning Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) I've got a copy of Vital Idol, on vinyl, labels the wrong way on, i.e. side A label is Side B, side B label is side A, don't suppose it's worth much Edited January 26, 2021 by PaulWarning Quote

SIDE ONE SIDE TWO I can’t help thinking I’ve seen that somewhere before. 2 Quote

I know some were reasonably rare. When I was very young I bought Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Welcome to the Pleasure Dome, gatefold, that had side one on both sides of disc one... Like a fool it went back to Woolies! I did exactly the same thing from the same retailer, WH Smiths in Ealing Broadway. 1 Quote
Leonard Smalls Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Not a miss-press, but I remember getting a copy of Joy Division's "Licht und Blindheim" limited edition single on Sordide Sentimental records. My French penfriend bought it for me in exchange for a UK Subs single... So stupidly I sold it for £40 back in 1981. They're now going for about £1500! Quote
Si600 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I have the shaped picture disc of Fear of the Dark from, I think, A Real Live One. The B side is supposed to be Hooks in You, but it's actually Tailgunner. No big deal it's a better song anyway. I looked into it to see if it was worth anything but apparently the whole run was wrong, so it's not rare at all! Quote
Sean Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I have The Police Sixpack coloured vinyl with incorrect labels on some of them. They're just jumbled up. It never really bothered me as a kid as I never played them as I had the songs on the albums and the original singles. The six pack was always treasured. Quote
Sean Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I also have an early copy of Led Zep II that is of interest to record collectors. It's got a purple lower label, contains different song names and the sleeve artwork is lighter. I'm not really up on it but a couple of friends have made noises and faces at it over the years. Quote
