Favorite guitarist??

Recommended Posts

I've just been through this entire thread and not one person has mentioned Nuno Bettencourt!! He's clearly the best guitarist alive by a mile.

I'm a fan of Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai and have been lucky enough to interview all 3.

My favourite guitarist though is Phil Collen of Def Leppard.

The way he can record and arrange multiple guitar parts within a song is simply amazing. His rhythm playing, tones and solos are great as well. Also, his signature guitar, the Jackson PC1 which has the sustainer in it, is awesome.

I think he's lost his way a bit, technically brilliant though. I met him and Dweezil once, both were miserable f*ckers to be honest and I was very polite and slightly starstruck. Shame.

Have to add Randy. Love Zappa too of course. John Sykes is the sexiest player by a country mile though. His vibrato is utterly, meltingly bollock tighteningly gorgeous. Listen to the solo (but for god's sake don't actually watch the video) on Whitesake's "Is this Love". I guarantee you will closet yourself immediately afterward.

Chuck Schuldiner-Death (RIP)
Chris Broderick- Jag Panzer, Nevermore, Megadeth
Alex Skolnick- Testament and his own jazz band (isn't it odd?)

Just for the amount of neck damage they have caused me...

Not in this thread.

He's in good company. Neither has Ry Cooder.
