Summerfest 2018 Line Up

Summerfest, Milwaukee WI.. The world's largest music festival. Located on the beautiful Lake Michigan lake front.

As a Senior my day pass is $7.00. A huge bargain

If interested take a look at the line up. Most bands are too young for me to know much about.

I do see that Greta Van Fleet will be there, Manchester Orchestra?

Comment on any artist or band if you know anything about them.

Flaming Lips are an absolutely awesome live band.

They do a modern take on psychedelic rock and always put on a fantastic show which quite often involves getting fans on stage to participate.

This is what they look like live.

On something completely unrelated, the other week my pub quiz team were asked the question 'Which American Great Lakes city is known as The City of Festivals'?

Your posts are the only reason we got that one right.

Cheers mate.

If I was there (which I definitely won't be) I'd also be going to see The Wombats, a trio of cheeky Liverpudlians who have enthusiastically joined the UK 80s Indie/New Romantic revival.

If they're from Liverpool I'm going to check them out.

Wow, where to start?

Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Boz Scaggs, James Hunter , Buddy Guy, Maze,

Jon Batiste and the Dap Kings and the great Nick Lowe.

That’s an amazing lineup Blue.

Yes indeed, Nick has ties with some of my friends in Milwaukee that go way back.

He's the  "real deal" and a nice guy.

incredible line up!

Yeah, and the thing is, again it's only a $7.00 investment. Plus there's always a ton of free tickets that seem to come my way.

I hope my band gets an evening time slot again. For those of you that play large scale festivals know that day time slots can be not so much fun.

Nice overhead evening pic of Summerfest.

If you struggle with crowds Summfest is not for you.

Also, a bottle of Miller Light beer is at least $7.00. I don't drink, is that expensive?

It's like a city of music.

Wow, that is the motherload of line ups!

Apart from the obvious ones like Zethro Tull etc, I've just got into The Dave Mathews Band, who are big over the pond but virtually unknown over here

Yeah, they have a greatful dead type following. Great for the jam band fan.

There is a similar one every year in early May in West Palm Beach, Florida called Sunfest.

There have been some amazing line ups in the past and the entrance prices are not extortionate like UK festivals.

www.sunfest.com

Sunfest is a 3 day festival. Summerfest is 2 weeks.

I get the feeling your Glastonbury is a totally different type of festival

And if I remember correctly it's very expensive.

These are a couple of ariel shots of Glastonbury Blue, definitely not good if you don't like crowds.

The main 'Pyramid' stage.

And yes, mega expensive compared to your Summerfest. Your ticket price wouldn't cover the booking fee for Glasto, last years was around the £240 mark (about 335 USD)

Nice pics of Glastonbury!

Here's a little Summerfest History.

Back in the late 60s, Mayor Meyers wanted a place where the working class guy that couldn't afford to take his family to Disney World could have an affordable place to take his family during the Summer. Hence Summerfest was born.

I think the first Summerfest was in 1969.
