Moggy Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Hi All, does anyone have any suggestions / view on the best dual channel amp head that can be used for both the Electric & Double bass, already aware of the EA doubler but are there any more suggestions out there? Cheers Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 I use a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2, I like it. Quote
Guest Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) Mesa Titan, Unfortunately, is discontinued, 2 independent channels with independent EQ, master, gain and O.D. Everything controlled through the Footswitch. Probably the second best amp I ever owned, a lot of possibilities. I don't know how it would work with a double bass but its clean sound was amazing, a lot of headroom with 1200 watts. Edited January 14, 2018 by spark misstyping Quote
Muzz Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 The Magellan doesn't have separate Bass/Mid/Treble EQ controls, but the two gain stages, volumes and filters can give very very different tones at the push of a button. Definitely worth a look. Quote
Bobthedog Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Glockenklang Blue Rock and Blue Sky both do. Quote
fleabag Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Carvin BX1600 I have one for sale in the Amps FS forum before i get clobbered by the police Quote
franzbassist Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) Markbass LMK - discontinued. Tecamp Bonafide - discontinued. Another option is dual input, footswitchable unit, and are my preferred solution for the situation you describe. I used to use a Providence Dual Bass Station, but have recently swapped to a Radial Bassbone OD. I loved the clean headroom of the Providence, but the Bassbone is more versatile, especially as it can have one channel made very DB friendly with a switchable ultra hi impedance input for piezo pickup, and HPF on both channels. http://www.tonebone.com/pdfs/smartsheet-BassboneOD.pdf Edited January 15, 2018 by walbassist Quote
greenolive Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I’d also look at acoustic image heads , might want a preamp if you like a bit of dirt on electric gigs though Quote
pmjos Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Much under rated and I feel wrongly so..... The Warwick LWA1000. Not the best but very well made and pop a sadowsky pre in line and its a cracker My main amp is a Demeter Minnie 800 - my reserve is the LWA - solid as a rock. Quote
