On the back of the bass the finish is almost completely worn away. I wonder just how much maintenance an old bass like this really needs given he plays it constantly. [/quote] No he doesn't. Danny (his bass tech) did present him with a custom shop replica but he prefers the old one you're right about the pickup though.
