therealting Posted October 24, 2016 Share Posted October 24, 2016 Has anyone added a "stealth" woofer pickup to their bass for those EB-style lows? I have one on my Yamaha Attitude Special and it sounds great mixed in with the P pickup. I'd love to have one hidden on a normal-looking P bass, I imagine I'd have to use quite a powerful one since it would be below the pickguard. Dood Posted October 24, 2016 Share Posted October 24, 2016 I love the idea but I can't get my head round the lack of efficiency having a pickup so far away from the strings under the pick guard. therealting Posted October 24, 2016 Author Share Posted October 24, 2016 Well this is what I want to know (: On my Strats, my neck pickups are generally lowered to balance with bridge and middle pickups which have to be raised to increase their output. [/quote] If it's the bass I think it is, then it's not really a "stealth" pick up is it? What you might like to consider is getting such a pick up, WITH a cover, then routing the body and cutting a hole in the scratchplate.
