Stealth Woofer Pickup

Has anyone added a "stealth" woofer pickup to their bass for those EB-style lows? I have one on my Yamaha Attitude Special and it sounds great mixed in with the P pickup. I'd love to have one hidden on a normal-looking P bass, I imagine I'd have to use quite a powerful one since it would be below the pickguard.

I love the idea but I can't get my head round the lack of efficiency having a pickup so far away from the strings under the pick guard. It's got to be a massively overwound pickup to get the level high enough or the P pickup quiet to balance it's output?

My mate had a John English "Stealth". Like this - https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/SOR00522/electric-guitars/second-hand-fender-master-built-john-english-stealth-esquire

All very cool... apart from one problem. It did sound kinda sh1t when the stealth pickups were used.

If it's the bass I think it is, then it's not really a "stealth" pick up is it?
What you might like to consider is getting such a pick up, WITH a cover, then routing the body and cutting a hole in the scratchplate.
Sorry I've not got many photos of what I mean, but you can just about see it on this one.

Yeah, the Attitude Special I have looks just like that one (but black), but I'd love to have a stealth one in a normal-looking P bass. The Callowhill example is a good one.

That bass Callowhill bass is pretty cool.

Sadly Tim Cloonan (Callowhill builder/owner) recently passed so I'm not sure if any more new Callowhill basses will surface. :(

That is pretty much my ideal bass I think... Awful news about Tim Cloonan.
