Not sure if someone has beaten me to posting this, but never again will I complain about being too long in a band!

It also says a lot about those who say they're too small to play double bass!

What an achievement, condolences go out to her family and friends.

Collapsed during a performance of 'There's No Business Like Show Business', aged 87.
Signed out doing what she loved. I can think of worse ways to go.

+1, we've all got to go sometime, that's a good way to go, especially at that age. Hope family and friends were with her.

Agreed. Playing yourself off...what great way to go.

Godspeed.

71 years to the day! pretty weird.

She didn't die '71 years to the day', she clocked up 71 years with same orchestra in February ...
The bassist was recognized by Guinness World Records for the longest professional tenure with a single orchestra earlier this year when she performed Feb. 4. That was 71 years to the day since her first concert with the group's forerunner, the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra
She died May 15th, not 71 years to the day and not weird.
