I'm interested to know of any off piste covers that work well.

We do 90s and later mainly alternative with a tinge of punk but we're not really genre specific just wanna play songs that people enjoy. Amongst the usual Oasis and Kings of Leon we play Weezer's Buddy Holly which is a great song and goes down quite well, and Bang Bang by the Dirty Pretty Things which the band love playing but it always seems to bomb a little.

I was looking at stuff like Bowling for Soup's Girl All the Bad Guys Want, NY City Cops by The Strokes. Something by Greenday that isn't Basket Case? Any suggestions along similar lines?

'Steady As She Goes', Raconteurs?

We used to cover that one! We all loved doing it but it always got a very mixed reception. A small percentage of the crowd would really love to hear it and the rest would be a bit meh............

Sounds like a great set,

feeder, Just a Day

Blink 182 All the Small Things or What's my Age Again

Sum 41, Fat Lip or In Too Deep

Fountains of Wayne, Stacey's Mom

Crazyhead's cover of Bang Bang (my baby shot me down)

Lemonheads cover of Mrs Robinson (great bassline as well)

Persevere with Bang Bang, it went down well for us even though the initial reaction was 'I don't know that one' it is a fun song and the audience will get it. If you've got the second vocal then Can't Stand Me Now, Libertines would go well, good chorus song.

Loads of Greenday songs that are just as well known as Basket Case, I always wanted to do Holiday and American Idiot goes a storm. When September Ends and Boulevard if you want a change of tempo. None of those off piste though.

how about 40 days and 40 nights, The Enemy?

Some great suggestions, keep em coming!

All the small things and When September ends are already in the set.
Mrs Robinson is on the tentative list already.
I love Cant Stand me Now, but not sure the BVs are strong enough. Was wondering if Don't Look Back into The Sun would work?

Never persuaded my lot to play it but yeah, why not? God I miss playing that stuff, just good fun.
